They say that great things happen in the blink of an eye, whoever they are couldn't be more accurate. In a matter of months my brother, Zayn, had gone from a quiet artist in Bradford to one-fifth of one of the biggest boy bands. Instead of waking up to hearing him sing Chris Brown every morning, I wake up to news reports on how the band is smashing it on the charts. In two years the band has grown tremendously, just finishing up tier first tour. Finally, after two years, I'll finally get to see my brother again and I'll get to meet the other four boys who are now like his brothers.
It's the day my brother comes to visit and I've got nothing prepared. My day so far had consisted of watching some Netflix and scrolling through my social media, all done in the comfort of my bed, pajamas a must.
I willed myself to leave the second season of my favorite show reminding myself that the last way I'd want my brother to see my would be the way I was, messy hair and horrible morning breath. I showered quickly, sliding into jeans and a sweater, weather-appropriate for London of course.
I left my flat, braving the sharp chill in order to buy some good food that I could make for Zayn later. Chicken, rice, simple foods that still would taste amazing after they were done being cooked.
"Brianna?" I turned quickly to the sound of my name, my face lighting with recognition as the blonde approached me.
"Kadie," I smiled, hugging her tightly, "it's been so long!"
She smiled and nodded. "After transferring to Manchester for school, I grew to love the city. I knew it was the right place for me."
"That is great! Although we definitely could still use your witty thinking for debate team. I'm so glad you like it, University of London definitely was my calling." I smiled, shifting my bags.
"I see your brother and their band are smashing the charts! That's amazing, although I'm sure you miss him." She nodded sympathetically.
"I do, I do. In fact, I'm on my way to greet him at my flat, he's on his way to stay here for a bit since the tour has ended and they're recording here."
"Oh," Kadie exclaimed, "don't let me keep you any longer! You have my number, text me so we can get together, I'm staying in London for a bit too." she smiled. I nodded and left, excited to finally see him.
No sooner had I set down the bags and shrugged out of my jacket, I heard five knocks on the door, a knocking pattern Zayn had done since I could remember.
I sprinted to the door, threw it open and gasped.
There wasn't just one boy at the door, there were five.
