ADAM:

Today was the big day, the day most people look forward towards in their adult life the day they get married to the love of their life.

Today my best friend was getting married.
Today my fears had finally come to life.

Today the love of my life was getting ready to walk down the aisle towards a man that wasn't me.

She was sitting with her back towards the door, so she didn't see me slip in through the door. The hairdresser was adding the finishing touches I guess. The hardest thing in this moment was pretending my heart wasn't breaking as the last curl dropped and cascaded down her back. She looked truly beautiful in her white dress.

I had come in with pretense of telling her an emergency had come up and I wouldn't able to stay for the ceremony, because I wasn't able to tell her the truth. A truth that I had always been afraid of telling her that : That I was irrevocably in love with her.

Hey Lexie?

Adam! What's going on? Is everything okay?

No, an emergency has come up i have to go.

What do you mean go? The ceremony hasn't started yet.

I'm really sorry baby girl you know I don't want to miss this day but I have to leave.

I saw pain flash through her eyes, but she nodded slowly accepting that I had to go. I reached out and pulled her into my arms, kissed her forehead and held onto her for a few moments. The trust we had for one another was like no other so she must have felt/known that I truly didn't want to go but had no choice in the matter and needed to leave.

I chose not to tell her how I truly felt. I chose to walk away before the choice of objection presented itself. Because in my heart I knew I couldn't do that her stand up and object. Embarrass her in front of all our family and friends , and ruin her big day.

We all have choices in life.

And I had chosen to walk way.
