How did this happen? My mind wailed in agony as I stood by the waters' edge.
It wasn't supposed to be like this. It wasn't supposed to end like this. My feet were bare and my clothes were tattered and torn. Blood caked my face, it's scarlet droplets cling to my hair, blending into its already red color.
Across the vast, raging river was my sanctuary. I could hear the children laughing and screaming with joy. The beautiful lights illuminated the large rollercoasters.
"Help me!" I screamed in a vain attempt to get anyone to hear my desperate wails. But no one did, no one ever would.
I heard the dry bracken rustle and the bushes behind me shook violently. A quiet sob escaped my throat. They had found me. The bushes stopped their shaking and I knew that they were behind me. Slowly, I turned around to face what was attacking me. I was alone. But I knew they were there, watching me. I could see their eyes, red and glowing and filled with hunger. My heart quivered in my chest and tears filled my eyes. They were hungry and I was their only source of food now. It wouldn't take long for them to dig their claw like hands into my belly and eat through my internal organs. It would only take a matter of seconds for them to crack open my head and consume my brain, driving them even farther into insanity.
All I could think about was, how could this happen? My gaze turned back to the bright light of life that was slowly slipping away from me, leaving me shrouded in darkness.
The happiest place on Earth had secrets, dark ones and sadly my friends and I had stumbled across the darkest one of them all.
