I walked slowly through the humid forest. The white flowers covered the mossy ground and the earth smelled warm, the scent of sun. A bee flew sleepily and landed on the flowers, collecting sweet nectar. I touched the tree trunks as I passed them. Their rough bark felt good to me. I felt their presence. The tree tops russled quietly in the warm summer winds and the leaves shone with a vibrating greenery. The sun peaked through and lit up the forest in some parts with glowing beams of gold. This was home to me. Smiling I kept on walking through this fantastic wonderland of life, blissfully unaware of the darker parts of the forest where a shadow was watching.
The girl further down the forest was bading in light. Her hair cascaded a bit down her shoulders and was shining like copper. He could not take his eyes off her. Everything about her breathed life and light. How would it feel to gently stroke her hair? Would it feel like silk? He wanted to run to her, but he couldn't. Not yet. He had heard her footsteps and his curiosity had led him to her. This was not his normal way of doing things but now she was there, a rare flower to brighten up a gloomy life. He silently followed her as she made her way through the forest. He noticed how gracefully she walked. Her greenish dress hugged her waist, were she had tied a broad leather string, and flowed down her legs almost touching the ground. She had pulled upp the sleeves of the dress to the elbows, exposing her slender wrists. He desperetly wanted to see her eyes, but she was too far away. He continued to follow her and she didn't notice how the shadow easily and smoothly moved behind her. Like a predator.
I squatted next to a little stream. Thirsty and sweaty, I cupped my hands and let the cool liquid fill my troat. I sighed and wiped my mouth with the back of my hand. Small droplets of water stained my dress and I got up. A cracking sound echoed through the trees making my head whip at the direction of the sound. It suddenly became too quiet and I scanned the forest. I stood there for a while, listening and looking, feeling a bit nervous. After a while I took a deep breath.
"Okey, Isobel, calm down. It's an animal." I said to myself and picked up the leather bag which were full of herbs and mushrooms. I took out a thin leatherstring and tied it around my hair. It began to darken and I knew that I had to hurry, or else I wouldn't be able to see where I was going. I walked fast through the forest, climbed over mosscovered boulders blocking my way and swiftly avoided branches. Sometimes I could feel someone staring at me through the dark forest. My hair on my neck stood up and I could feel a prickling sensation. I quickened my pace and jogged through the forest. A loud crack made me stop and turn my head. My heart began to beat faster and I swallowed.
"Hello?" I meant to say in a firm voice, but it almost came out as a whisper. Thankfully none answered and I continued my way home, faster then ever.
He had watched her drink. Oh, how he wanted to be the water that she brought to her rosecolored lips. She seemed so vulnerable and little. She had the look of a frightened deer when she had heard him stepping on a branch. He was fascinated of her expressions. He wanted to see more. And he had heard her say her name out loud. Isobel. It suited her. He watched her put her glowing hair in a ponytail and straightening out her dress before putting the leather bag over a shoulder. He followed her silently, hidden in the shadows, and watched her carefully look around. His eyes gleamed with excitement when she did that. He loved it. For his amusement he picked up a thick branch and snapped it with his strong hands. She had whipped her head towards him blinded by the darkness. She silently called out and he could sense fear radiating from her. The sensation was glorious. He smiled wickedly in the shadows. The fading light and the dusk illuminated her from behind. She was strikingly beautiful. Her cheeks were flushed and her eyes sparkled. He fantasied about touching her cheek, her hair, her shoulders and... How he wanted her. Wanted Isobel. His Isobel.
