Chapter 1 - Being Born Again

Being obsessed with the concept of virtual reality, I was psyched when I heard that the new VR game called "Oasis" was being sold, and without a second thought, ordered it online immedately.

The game would function through a console called the "NeuroControl" and it would intercept all signals from the brain and use it to controlthe characters within the games.

Not even bothering to read the manual when the "NeuroControl" arrived I hopped in, It was very similar to a coffin, I would have to lie down, and close it and after ten seconds security checks it would throw me inside the game and I could log out from within the game.

My mother called out from downstairs, "Daniel, clean your room, I'll be back in a few days for work, don't forget to lock the door." which I obviously didn't plan to do,"Yeah yeah yeah" I said ignorantly and once I heard the door close I closed the lid on the console.

As I was lying inside the 'coffin' explosive with excitement I was hit with an unsettling realisation, my ten seconds were beyond up, and the device was revving like a sportscar engine. I began to panic and tried pushing the lid up, but to no avail.

The revving started to sound more like something familiar, a whistle perhaps. It soon became exceedingly painful to hear, and then in a trice it ended, and I felt an unexpected electrical surge follow my spine up to the neck ending my life instantly.

Errantly presumed, however, as it seemed to be. The loud whistling sound appeared to be back once more, but I knew the sound all to well, opening my eyes I was mortified by the sight, and began to cry.

I was a newborn, and I was currently being breastfed by whom I presume to be my mother, and the loud whistling seemed to be a floating teakettle. All these things going on at the same time seems to be taking its toll on my body, or perhaps it's my 'mother's' warm milk? How nostalgic, this was truly bliss.

As such, began my new life in...um, god knows where. However, it was a melancholy feeling, one that I hadn't felt in the longest time, it was nostalgic really. I guess it wouldn't hurt to play this out, It's not like there's much waiting for me anyway in the real world anyway.
