Regina knew this day would come; the day her wonderful little paradise would unravel around her. She knew the curse would break, waking every single person around her. She knew that the tall, curly haired blonde would come after her for accidentally poisoning their son. The apple turnover, made with her forbidden fruit, had been consumed, not by Emma, but by Henry. The events that followed were all a blur; the rush to the hospital, being slammed against metal frames by the enraged blonde, the accusations and the realization that her curse would soon be broken by the blonde. Then, worse of all, the act of it being broken.

Hundreds of former villagers pooled around the Mansion, owned by the Mayor. Shouts and screams for her to show her face, to face what she had done and to suffer the consequences filled her ears as she looked through the window. Thin lines formed on her brow, dark shadows under her eyes. She knew she had lost. But then she saw a flicker of blonde hair push through the mob, stopping on the porch and facing the people around her.

"ENOUGH!" Emma shouted.

The crowd looked taken aback, looking at her as if she had gone mad, momentarily silent. Then the protests began again.

"She cursed us all!" one shouted. "The witch deserves to be punished!" said another.

Emma raised her hands, signalling that she needed silence. It took a few minutes but the shouts quieted down to a soft hum. Her lips were pressed into a thin line, her green eyes,  dark with determination, scanned the faces of the town's people, looking each one in the eye as they did.

"I understand your blood lust. But murdering her isn't the answer." more uproar from the mob, but with a quick hand movement, they lowered their voices.

"She deserves to be punished for what she has done, and she will be. But for now, all you people need to do is find your loved ones and reunite with them. Regina will be dealt with. Just not now"

Mumbles and glances were shared between the people in the mob, but slowly they began to fall back. She looks back at the house, catching sight of Regina in the window. She glares and clenches her jaw before walking to the door and opening it forcefully.

The brunette gulped, walking downstairs and finding the blonde stood in the middle of the opening of her house, in front of the stairs. Her red leather clad arms were crossed over her chest, knuckles white from her tight grip around her upper arms. Her face was scrunched up in anger and... Hurt?

Regina cleared her throat and stood tall, chin up and poised like a Queen. She travelled the last few steps and stopped in front of the blonde, her face an expressionless mask. She intertwined her fingers together and placed her hands in front of her and smiled at the Savior tightly.

The blonde curled her lips and shook her head, looking coldly at the Queen.

"You got what you wanted, Regina. You got your curse, you made people's lives here a misery. But that wasn't enough, you had to push further, " she said and step forward, closing the gap between the two. Reginas face was inches from the blondes and she played with her hands nervously.

"and the result of that? Your son, our son, getting put into a coma-"

"sleeping curse- if you're going to point out my errors, at least do it properly, Miss Swan." Regina snapped, her composed exterior deteriorating.

With that comment, Emma lost all self control that she had left. With a swift movement, she pulled out her gun from the holder, pushed the brunette against the wall and held her there by her throat with her forearm. Regina felt her heart race against her chest, ready to explode. She spluttered and gasped, trying to grasp as much air as she could possibly get through such tight choking. Her deep brown eyes were coloured with fear and shock. They locked eyes with the blondes green ones, darkened by furry and... It was hurt. There was no denying that, her forest green eyes were cracked.

"Don't you dare Miss Swan me, you evil bitch. I was beginning to trust you, I was beginning to- " Emma stopped and let out a small growl, clenching her jaw. "and you threw it all back! I thought maybe we could push past our differences for Henry. I thought maybe we could be a family"

Regina's eyes widened. What was this furious blonde saying? That she wanted to be a family with her and her son? Regina's already quickly pacing heart sped up even more and she furrowed her brows at the blonde.

"w-what are you saying? To be a family?" she asked. The blonde let out a humorless chuckle and shook her head.

"I was falling for you, Madame Mayor" she spat. She pushed back and let go of Regina, who fell to the floor, clutching her throat and coughing. The mayor looked up at the Savior.
The blonde brought her hands up to her head, the gun still in her hand but facing away from her head. Her body began to shake and she shut her eyes tightly, the breathing ragged and short.

She's having a panic attack, Regina thought.  If it were up to her,  she would let the woman suffer with her attack, but seeing how unstable Emma was becoming and the fact that she had a gun in her hand,  Regina didn't want to risk anything.

She groggily got up from the floor and tried steadying her breathing as she approached Emma, careful not to rattle the woman anymore than she already was.  This woman,  the birth mother of her adoptive son,  was in love with her.  The pure thought of it made Regina's stomach do back flips. She tried pushing any fleeting emotions to the side and concentrated on the task at hand.  She slowly walked up to Emma, her hands up in a way to signal that she didn't want a confrontation.

"Emma...  Put the gun down.  You're going to hurt yourself" she said in the least patronizing manner she could. The blonde snapped her head up and looked at the former Queen, her face streaked with tears.

"And why should I?" she croaked.

"Please, think of Henry-" Regina began but was interrupted.

"You have no right to say that to me. Not after what you did to him." Emma  spat.

The brunette winced at that and looked down with a pained look in her eyes.  Emma was right,  if Regina had just let the blonde leave, her son wouldn't have gone through the sleeping curse.  If she had just trusted  Emma's word, the curse wouldn't had been broken and she wouldn't be in this predicament right now. All she wanted was her revenge on Snow...  Wait.

"You're right"

"W-what?" Emma's green eyes scanned the brunettes face, her own contoured with confusion.

"You're right." Regina said flatly.
If Regina wanted to get out of this alive, she had to play this out.  She had an idea. If she could just get close enough to her...

"I was a fool.  I should have just let you leave when I had the chance.  My wanton revenge blurred my vision.  But...  Now I see things clearer." she said the last part slowly.  She had a plan and she was going to through with it.
