Early bird gets the worm...
I laced up my Nike sneakers. I ran my fingers through my hair before I pulled it away from my face and up into a high ponytail.
I began to smile. I had beat Brittany to the punch of waking me for training. I hated it. It made my skin crawl just imagining her open the bedroom door, bringing in the cool air from the halls and turning on the lights.
I stood to my feet, struggling to ignore the throbbing pain that came from my head. I picked up the glass of water from my nightstand and two aspirins. I popped the pills and chased them with a little water.
I picked up a pair of sunglasses and walked out of my bedroom and down to the kitchen. Opening the patio's sliding door, I cringed under the bright rays of light.
Why could it not be cloudy?
I walked to the end of the patio. Overlooking the field, I noticed no one in sight. Where is everyone?
"What are you doing?" I spun around to see Alpha Xavier walking up the patio steps.
He pulled his head phones from his ears and stuffed them into his pocket. His shirt clung to his sweaty chest and his shorts struggling to hold onto his hip.
I pushed my sunglasses further up on to my face to shield my wandering eyes as I cleared my throat to speak to him.
"Oh. I-I was coming out for training."
"Training was canceled this morning." He removed his damp shirt. My eyes locked onto his perfectly sculpted chest. The devil is working.
Without another word, he turned and walked into the sliding doors. I followed behind him. The distance between him and I clearly evident.
"Um-why is that?"
He walked over to the refrigerator and pulled a water bottle. He popped the lid and sipped the water. Water beads clung to his bottom lip before he licked it away.
Unholy thought were forming in my mind. This was insane.
"Because the last thing I want is a bunch of drunken, hungover wolves on my field." He assured me. "Were you going to train in those sun glasses?"
"Um no." I quickly removed the glasses and shoved them into my back pocket.
"So you are free today."
He slid pass me and out of the kitchen before I could say another word to him...
Early bird got nothing but a glare from the Alpha and a few lost hours of sleep. The first time I'm up on time, training was canceled.
I will not allow my morning go to waste. Since I was already in my training gear, I decided to walk down to the fitness room for a good workout.
I picked up my iPhone and slipped my ear buds in before I left my room. Maybe the early bird could still get something done.
I walked down to the basement to the fitness room. Dumbbells. Treadmills. Workout equipment that would help keep me on my toes.
Entering, I began to question my choice of actually coming down here. Alpha Xavier. Seeing as how I was too late to turn back, I lowered my head and sucked it up. Walking with such ease, I seem to glide over to the bicycle.
Goodness, why is he everywhere?
I adjusted the machine as I ignored my eyes need to glance over toward him. I slid my feet under the straps of the pedals and began.
The Weeknd boomed through the mini ear buds as I struggled to focus on the plasma television that hung on the wall ahead of me.
No. No. Don't you look over at him. Don't you think about it. Don't you fucking dare. No.
