The fire was getting closer and she closed her eyes.
Flashes.
Dark and light.
She shook her head, feeling her coily strands hit her face with the softest touch. A bead of sweat flew from the side of her head, eyelids and upper lip twitching simultaneously.
They appeared again, two silhouette figures against the fire, but they were gone when she blinked.
She stood in front of the glass door her palms flat against it. Momentarily, she was distracted by the rays of sun filtering through the diamond ring. It painted the wall with a thousand dazzling and pure streaks of light. Tension, deprived her the ability to admire its brilliant highlights.
Someone was coming.
Someone...
...bad.
She turned around, stepping into the darkness. The darkness swallowing her voice as she ran.
"Wake up. I will not hesitate to drown you" A seething voice broke through her irregular visions.
She woke up in the middlenof a deep inhale with wide, wild eyes. Early morning rays of sunshine caressed her skin.
Through her panic, she checked her tracker. Her heartbeat was scarily high, but at least she could see it decreasing. If only at a snail pace.
Mornings did this to her. Always.
She glanced at her little brother who stood impatiently waiting to catch her attention. His hair looking like a bird's nest already. A lovely, black hair nest with streaks of leather brown where the early morning sun rays hit it in sections through the panelled window. He was a nuisance but seeing his glower reminded her she had lived through her nightmares.
"Down, now" He said, gritting his teeth.
Granted, he brought hope to her but it didn't make him any less annoying.
"Move it" She spat out "And don't you dare use that tone on me again"
She flopped over to the other side of her bed. She know it unnerved him but it was the only way to get back at him satisfactorily.
On cue he yanked her legs trying to drag her out of bed. She anticipated this ancient move and was already clutching the tapered bedpost.
"Arrh! Semia I don't want to be late I have a TEST!" he yelled trying to convince her instead.
"And so what?" she replied as uncaring as she could muster. He stopped yanking. She was the only way to get to school this week.
Steam could come out of his head from the anger on his chubby face. Semia smiled wide and sweet, wedging her head on her crooked arm to keep it upright.
"I still have to get up" She sighed after he banged her door shut and screamed her frustration into her pillow.
Downstairs, Lesly had already cooked breakfast. The silence at the table as they both ate allowed her mind to wander, searching for a plausible explanation to this particular dream. She faintly remembered the ring. Was she getting married? She hoped so, she'd get married to herself for that ring. It was beautiful.
