Claude smirked and stepped forward, “The one and only my love.” His voice sent chills down my spine and not the good kind.

Undertaker wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me behind him, “What do you want from her demon?” Undertaker looked menacing, a scowl on his face, I felt his muscles tense.

“I’ve come for her of course. She belongs to me and I’ve come to collect what is mine.” Claude took another step forward.

“Over my dead body, I won’t allow you to take her from me.” The Undertaker snarled, his death scythe suddenly appeared in his hands, the tip gleaming menacingly.

“That can be arranged shinigami.” Suddenly Claude flashed forward in the blink of an eye, Undertaker pushed me aside and held up his scythe in order to hold off Claude. I jumped up and looked around for anything that I could use as a weapon.

Claude and Undertaker were engaged in a vicious battle, both seemingly equal in strength and agility. It seemed to be a rather even match. I found my dagger and was about to jump into the battle when the Undertaker yelled at me.

“Run away Lucia! I’ll find you, just get out of here now!” His eyes were pleading with me, but I couldn’t move.

After a moment’s hesitation I turned and began to run away.

“Oh no you don’t!” Claude yelled and a series of spider’s strings flew out of the trees and pierced through my body. I screamed in pain and tried to break free of the web. I couldn’t breathe, my vision was blurry, my body felt as if it was on fire.

“Lucia!” I heard the Undertaker yell, his voice was rough and desperate.

I watched as Claude rammed the Undertaker into a tree plunging a dagger into his chest, “I have to get Lucia out of here, those webs are poisonous and if she doesn’t get help soon I’m afraid she’ll die.” He jumped away and another series of spider strings flew from the trees and embedded themselves in the Undertaker, keeping him rooted in his spot.

“Undertaker…” My voice was so soft, I didn’t even think he heard me, but his head lifted up and he gave me a weak smile.

“I’ll come for you, don’t worry my love.” Claude walked over to me and cut me free of the web, I fell into his arms, no strength in me to fight back.

“Let’s get you out of here little one.” With a flash we were gone and I could no longer fight against the darkness creeping over me, I succumbed to it and let it take me away.

The next time I awoke everything around me was unfamiliar, my mind was groggy and I was sore all over. There was a little boy next to me, his icy blue eyes were staring down at me as a maid tended to my wounds.

“Claude she’s awake!” The boy called out in a whine.

Claude walked into my line of vision and I cringed and tried to move away but a spike of pain shot through me leaving me immobile.

“You mustn’t try to move too much my dear, your wounds are still healing.” He said as he sat down next to me and moved a stray strand of hair from in front of my face.

I turned away from his caress, closing my eyes in disgust, “Please, don’t touch me.” My voice was a plea. Claude chuckled darkly, “I’ll leave you alone for now, but just wait my dear soon you’ll be craving my touches.” He leaned down and licked my cheek before walking away.

I shivered and closed my eyes fighting back tears. The young boy chuckled, “I’ve never seen Claude so riled up over someone before, you must be very special.” He said with a laugh, “This is so interesting. What a fun game we now have going.” He got up and skipped away humming a dark tune as he went.

“My name is Hannah, I will be your maid while you stay here at the Trancy Estate. Is there anything I can get you?” She asked, she avoided eye contact with me, her head casted down.

“Unless you can get me out of here, no.” I said bitterly.

“I am sorry Miss.” She gave a small bow and left, a look of pity in her eyes as she went.

I stared out of the window, I knew the Undertaker was out there somewhere, hurt, the thought alone was enough to break my heart. Why was I here? What connection do I have with Claude? Nothing made any sense. I tried piecing things together in my mind but there was always a piece missing, I know Sebastian and Claude both have some sort of “claim” on me but in what way is the question. Things had spiraled out of control so quickly, and there was nothing I could do about it.

I sat up, wincing in pain. I noted I was in a thin silk nightgown that barely fell mid-thigh and I was covered in bandages. I unfurled my wings and allowed them to stretch for a moment before tucking them back in. I wandered around the elegantly decorated room, there were plenty of clothes that had been provided for me, and there was even an equally elegant bathroom. At least I wasn’t being held in a dungeon. I tried the door handle just in hopes it had been left unlocked but of course they weren’t that stupid, it was tightly locked. I let out a sigh and punched the wall nearest me. I hated being hopeless.
