A man’s silhouette flashed through the dense forest, sidestepping deftly every time he encountered a tree trunk. His brow glistening with sweat, he stopped, bent over and rested his hands on his knees while panting heavily. It had been an exerting couple of hours for the 28 year old man, but tenacity and determination could be seen in his eyes through the exhaustion. He had military selections coming up, and that sliver of hope of being lifted from poverty was enough to allow him to withstand such rigorous training. A shrill whistle rang out in the desolate forest, breaking its silence, as a brown terrier with limpid eyes bounded across the forest towards the source of the whistle which was, in fact, the exhausted man. Two pairs of footsteps could be heard as man and beast walked home, step by step, in perfect unison.
