The Break-Up

Before Kya

Has I looked into the mirror and saw my reflection all I could think about was perfection. I’m perfect. Tall, with long slender legs toned through years of ballet, flat stomach and a pair of perfect tits. Navy blue eyes and glossy long blond hair, I was envied, I was beautiful. Like my mother always said “gold and beauty were the most coveted things in the world and you happen to have both.”

“Kya!” three girls squealed. I turned around and saw Becky, Madison and Joyce; my entourage. They weren’t so much has friends but accessories. Becky was the book worm who kept tabs on everyone in the school. Madison an airhead had a talent of getting secrets from people. Then there was Joyce the intimidator, she got the message across. I saved them from being nobodies and now they owe me their lives.

“Hello girls, you’re just in time. Here are your itineraries; this is what your life will look like for the two months. Everything scheduled along with their time slots. I want to remind you girls that this is the summer before our senior years and everything has to go according to plan if we are to stay on top.” I stopped to look at them and make sure they understood how important the itinerary is. I looked into each of their eyes and saw excitement, anticipation and understanding. Good.

“Um Kya I was just wondering what is an emergency comes up and gets in the way of your schedule.” Becky said quietly. I glared at her and made sure that she realized that her question was both unwanted and unnecessary.

“Becky sweetheart, there is room for error but just know that if one of you miss anything that’s on this list you will suffer the consequences and senior year just won’t be has fun but we’ll do without. Understand?” Becky nodded her head yes, the fear evident in her eyes. “Just remember Leah when the need to fake an illness to get out of part creeps into your brain.”

Madison, Becky and Joyce looked at each other in understanding. Nobody wants what happened to Leah to happen to them.

“Now step out of the room so I can finish getting dressed.” Out they shuffled wanting to get some air to breath. “Fear Kya keeps people in line; it’s the one emotion you can count on from humans.” The words that my mother always said crept back into my mind. I looked back into the mirror and whispered, “Has always you’re right mother.” My mother’s green eyes gazed back at me from the mirror showing approval at her perfect daughter.

I gazed back at the itinerary and remembered to e-mail Caleb.

Hello lover. Attached to this e-mail is the itinerary I told you about yesterday. Read it and keep it in your wallet, everything must go according to plan Caleb. Jess and her cronies are testing my patience and I refuse to give up the balcony lunch table and the lunch table overlooking the lake among other privileges that only a select few get. Junior was the year to pretend I had any competition but let’s face it I’m prettier and smarter than Jess and I have a better boyfriend. So help me Caleb if you screw anything over.

P.S I love you.

I hit the send button and went off to take a shower. Today, day one of summer vacation I will show everyone who truly is the golden goddess.
