I shot myself upwards, panting heavily. It took awhile, but I soon realized that the whole class was staring at me. Mrs. Narnia had her hand close to the board, chalk in hand. I blushed and looked down "S-sorry..." I apologize. I rest my chin on my arms and pull out a sheet of paper, jotting down the notes that the teacher had written with a gentle sigh.

I was suddenly filled to the brim with worry. Any other person would've chalked it up to a nightmare and let it go. But I couldn't. She tensed, her entire body trembled. Her fist coiled tightly around her pencil like a cobra. I stared at her for the longest time, but she never seemed to notice. I finally realized what I was doing and stared back down at my worksheet. A sigh slipped out as my as my eyes scanned the many unanswered questions. I picked up my pencil and only had time to write the word "If". I exhale once again and pull out my binder then gently slide the work sheet into the left pocket labeled: "Homework".

Yukita was still sitting down after the bell rang. I tapped her shoulder softly, she flinched and looked up at me. "Are you alright?" I ask her in a comforting tone. Her round black eyes widen ever so slightly. Yukita blushes, looking away from me. I must've lost consciousness or something, because my next move is something I never would've done while in my right mind. I drift her attention towards me. "Yukita..." I whisper sympathetically. She turns, and I perform the impossible.

I only had time to turn around before I was pulled into a tight embrace. My heart skipped as his arms wrapped themselves around my waist. I felt his breath coress my neck gently. "Don't be afraid.." he whispers softly "I'm here for you..." I tense slightly. Mrs. Narnia has kept her class outside of the door for us. I sigh, then smile softly. "Thanks, but I'll be fine on my own." Daito flinched, then pulled away. He looks to his right "I'm sorry.." he says lowly "we barely know each other, and yet-" "Nah, it's fine." I interrupt him with a warm smile. I stand up and stuff my things sloppily into my side bag. "Besides," I say. "You actually helped a little." He blushes, standing up. Daigo's eyes dart towards me for a moment, then back at his things. He gathers them in a sloppy manor and hurries out with a flushed look on his face. I chuckle and walk out.

As I'm walking, I take notice of a black pencil lying on the floor. I picked it up and turn it slightly. In silver writing is the word "Kurogami" My thoughts focus on Daigo. Yeah, I remember his name. So what? Not like it means something if that's what you're thinking.

My black eyes search the wide halls for him. Nothing. No one at all. I was all alone. I walked to class by myself, boots tapping gently against the tile floor. They soon cease. One dim light stares down at me. Boring into my soul. Memories. I hear weeping. Sobbing. Suffering. People sick, dying, crying, wilting. The world leaves no one untainted. It starts as just one drop of hate. But it only takes one match to create an explosion. Darkness spreads. Its poisonous touch leaving no grain of sand unpunished. It grows, grows, and grows. Rapidly, it runs wild. Until all that is left, is an enormous ocean of hate and darkness.

                     The light flickers.

                            And I flicker back.
