A numb ache throbbed somewhere in my head. I awoke to a void of darkness.
I clumsily stood up in this small room. The walls and floor were icy cold, a shock at first. I seemed to be in a closet, my only company was a cabinet made of wood. The cabinet was rotted from moisture and age. I searched the walls looking for a way out. Finally I reached a heavy wooden door. The door gave away with a loud creek.
Looking out, I could see two tall windows illuminated the room. The moonlight could only reach so far with these ice blue windows. These window seemed to touch the ceiling. In front of these windows sat a silhouette of what seemed to be a coffin, candles, and maybe webs.
This reminded me of a documentary I had seen at school. It looked about right. Except, in the movie, the place was lit more. The movie didn't have a coffin in it either, but something unnerving filled the air here as it did in the educational video. The flight of stairs were broken and cracked in the movie. It was too dark for me to see them, but broken stairs would've fit with the scenery.
For a second I thought of how older civilizations would sacrifice for their gods. A chill ran through me. Every nerve in me told me not to walk to wards it, but I did. I had to see what still could be in this old rundown castle. I hesitantly ascended the small fight of stairs to it. Oddly the surface felt smooth and sturdy as my feet brushed over the cement.
I was close enough to touch the coffin... But fright pulsed through me. I don't know exactly why I was so frightened, but all I knew was to be careful. Around the coffin were candle sticks. The candle sticks showed signs of being previously lit. Cobwebs dangled lifelessly off the edges of the candles. The cobwebs looked new, yet old. They looked perfectly netted, but no spiders could be seen.
As I moved around the coffin to look out the window, I stepped on what felt like a rolling pin. I couldn't make out what it was, the shadows obstructed my sight a bit. The last thing I wanted to do was touch anything but my curiosity got the better of me. I picked it up. The moment light touched it, I flung it to the ground. It was a bone, a human bone! The bone cracked across the floor.
A thundering crash sounded somewhere behind me. A massive blackness swept across the floor. I muffled a scream as the thing bit down on my shirt. Then, it swung me around. I bit my tongue hard as I hit the cold brick floor at the bottom of the steps.
I scrambled to my feet and gazed at the thing in front of me. A long silence fell over. The darkness made it impossible to see any features of this monster. It lumbered a few steps towards me. I didn't move, my legs felt numb.
It's silhouette turned to me, a big iris illiminated the air a crimson. "What so you think of me," the monster asked. It's voice made with some clicks or a hushed whisper on certain forms or sounds. "In one word, describe me. And if you think you can sweet talk your way out of here... That's not possibe."
My heart started beating rapidly, was being here my fatal end? Not anywhere else? I'd be killed and no one would know my fate. I looked around trying not to bawl and search for an answer. The silence and darkness was deepening my panic.
"...S-scary," I managed to say awkwardly. I couldn't help but feel a bit ashamed, I sounded like I was crying, though it was sort of true.
The two long windows turned from an icy blue into a reddish glow. All sorts of words appeared in a black. Some words seemed to have been written in ink and were a bit bolder. Among the words one word glowed a crimson. Scary, Glowed near the bottom on the right window. Actually the right window seemed to have more words that the left.
