As the faulty bell rings then hisses I run out of the school to enjoy the free weekend before anything could be said to hold me here. Because I had a mission, to find where the mysterious kid goes after school.
Yet Eye-patch Kid or E.K Is slightly faster than me. I can see his black backpack bouncing up and down just out of reach of my grasp. It felt almost impossible to run as fast as him. As if he had a stronger reason to run like a cheetah to some sort of metaphorical gazelle.
'So close yet so far' the words echoed in my mind, how can I think that? I can't give up. But then the deafening ringing of the clock "3:30 WORKS Over!" the automated voice scolded, almost immediately a crowd of adults exited all buildings around me.
'No no no they're going to get in the way!'
I should be able to do this but unfortunately the bouncing backpack was gone replaced with busy businessmen considering whether or not to kill themselves when they get home. Unfortunately I may have to head home as well instead of figuring E.K out.
I walk past the grey buildings with deep alleyways. I stop to listen to the screaming in the one of the alleys. Perhaps a young woman being attacked.
'Rape?' , the screams eventually stop 'Ah.. murder' I continue to walk before I may be next. I stop in front of the towering apartment building. About an hour has past, I may be late. The schedules in section Z apartment buildings are that they have interesting schedules that I make sure to record. I climb the 67, 68 if the broken ones are counted, steps up to my home. "Mom, dad im home!" ..That never gets old. I walk into the empty grey home and look out the window to see the 3rd body this week plummet to the ground.
'Right on time!' I lay on the only furniture with color the brown couch and read the old newspaper left from yesterday. 'Murders increase 5% in section Z', boring, 'Section X has installed fresh water fountains', boring, 'Section Y allows Z-people to be legal citizens. Strange I thought section Y was the most hating of Z-people. Interesting though, Z-people themselves that is, they seemed to be effected by the deadly virus yet it hasn't rot their brains, more of added on. With increased smell, vision, and speed they'd make interesting conversation. Yet sometimes some Z-people aren't so lucky, they may have to take a Z-vex shot everyday, more than regular bite victims. So imagine having to take a shot or pill everyday just to keep from going feral and killing a lot of people. Sounds like a baloney way to live.
As the hours of alarms and screams slowly settle down I think I could finally sleep.
Click
leaping up, I heard a camera shutter. Somewhere I wasn't alone, I looked out the window to see a shadow leaping down to ground level. Im tired of being surrounded by these mysteries. Sprinting down the steps as fast as my body can take me I open the main door.
I now find myself face to face with Eye-patch Kid.
