It was supposed to be an ordinary summer, nothing new happening just finishing the summer homework and meeting with my friends. This was all until he moved in across the street, I didn't think much of it at first; just new neighbours, nothing more nothing less. I watched through my bedroom window as they unloaded their truck and take everything inside. From what I saw, they seemed to be a family of 4, a married couple and their son and younger daughter. They seemed very happy.
Once they were completely settled in a week later, my mom and Dad decided to go across the street and visit them. "You coming Leah?" They yelled up the stairs.
"Yeah, one sec!" I replied running down.
I felt more nervous than I thought I would when we knocked on their door, maybe it's just because they're new people? The woman opened the door to greet us warmly "Hi, you must be the family across the road! I'm Ashley!" She exclaimed in a slightly southern drawl, she was very beautiful with shoulder length dark hair and welcoming blue eyes. For her age, of which I could only guess was 50, she was striking.
"Hey, were the Wilsons, I'm Ella, this is my husband Brad and this is my daughter Leah" my mum replied cheerfully.
"It's lovely to meet you all!" She said her daughter excitedly running up behind her leg and husband following sheepishly "this is my husband George and daughter Millie- say hi Millie!"
"Hello!" Said a small voice from behind her moms leg.
"How old are you then Millie?" Said my mum bending down to her petite height.
"I'm 5" she said louder this time, clearly gaining her confidence.
"My son Mason is upstairs, he's not the most sociable, 18 year olds I tell you!" She says rolling her eyes and laughing.
"I can relate" Said my mom joining in "Leah's turning 18 soon and I'm not looking forward to it!"
"I see! You'll be in the same year as Mason then!" She said aiming it towards me.
"Yeah I guess so!" I say kindly.
"Anyway" says my dad "we just thought we'd stop by and say hi and ask if you'd like to come round for dinner in a few weeks?"
"That would be lovely!" Ashley exclaims "it would be great for us to make some friends in the neighbourhood!"
"Fantastic!" We'll see you then!" Says my mom and with that we turned around and left with a little wave.As soon as we got back, I changed into my pyjamas which I decided that night were a tight grey tank top and a pair of small shorts. I felt cute like this which is random as most would feel better all dolled up, but not me, I love comfy clothes and the simplicity of them. I wandered over to my window to shut my curtains, when I saw that the son Mason had chosen the room directly opposite to mine so I had a clear view into his bedroom and he had a clear view into mine. Being the nosey person I am, I decided to have a look and see if I could see what he was doing. Much to my surprise, he was stood in the middle of his room shirtless lifting weights, I wasn't going to deny it, he was gorgeous. Messy chocolate Brown hair, toned abs and body, it might not be the worst having a new family across the street after all, I thought to myself. He turned around and took me off guard which resulted in him noticing me gawking, he smirked and carried on without a care in the world. I shut my curtains quickly and got into my comfy double bed. What a strange character I wonder if we'll be friends. And lost in my thoughts I drifted off to sleep.
