This movie was the BOMB so lets get right into it!!
Summary
Its ten years after the events of the apes' attack on San Diego, and the simian virus has wiped out nearly the entire planet. Caesar leads his community of apes with a strong and intelligent outlook. However, a less-than-friendly re-encounter with humans have left both sides wondering whether they can live together in harmony.
Review
I have to say, I've was taken by storm when I saw this movie. The original, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, was ok but did not succeed my expectations (as of most reboos/remakes). I felt like it was more about science than actual apes kicking ass, and when they do they dont kill anyone... eh. However, this film took everything we knew about sequels and SLAMMED IT DOWN! Not only was this sequel entertaining, but it was masterful. Andy Serkis as Caesar could not have been better potrayed, as of the rest of the apes as well. MAURICE THE FRICKEN ORANGUTAN MANN!!! This film had a much darker sense, as both Apes and Humans wanted to simply survive. I must say, Caesar is by far my favorite protagonist this summer. Not only is he a strong and smart leader, he still has so much integrity, respect, and love for his fellow apes and some humans as well. AND his older son is a pretty strong character as well, and the baby ape was cute too. The struggle with the humans was totally believable, and seeing both sides struggle for their beliefs was gorgeous. Humans had a pretty swag city, but NO POWER AT ALL. They went to the mountains to get some dam thing wokring, and that happened to be in APE territory... uh oh!!! Some apes fear humans, others have nothing but conceit for them, and one particular ape is willing to take the battle to them no matter the cost of life!!! The effects were sublime, the acting phenomenal, the story and action and characters were nothing short of spectacular. I especially loved the internal trust conflict in between some Apes, same with Humans. However, no movie is without a sin or two. This movie, all be its awesomeness, was VERY predictable. From the dead daughter's name of a docter being "Sarah" to exactly what would happen in between humans and apes. In other words, if you saw Tarzan, then you can totally sense the direction of some scenes and dialogue. Like Caesar's wife being sick and and doctor lady being like "We have medicine, we can help you!" The only real problem i had with this movie: Where the fuck do these apes get all their horses... and all black horses too... and some Ape-hate with the humans got a little old too.
Some Other Thoughts (SPOILERS)
I'm sorry, but as much as I love Caesar, he shouldn't have survived that bullet. Too much time passed and when he was shot it was night, when he was found somehow alive it was daytime and he didn't move an inch until the humans found him... How did he not bleed out? Why did he only show sign of life until the camera did? Maybe it was like REALLY late at night and early morning... but this movie did have some weird time things. Like the final battle scene between Koba (FUCK KOBA) and Caesar, it changed from night to day within a second....
