It was a terrible day to be Nicole Carman. She walked home from school after a day of heartache. She didn't care at this point if anything else bad happened to her. But the pain in her chest continued to sag on, an empty feeling swallowing all her emotions. And just to think this all happened a few hours ago. There stood her one year boyfriend, hugging and kissing another girl with all his might. Nicole stood there with eyes watering up and breathing uneven. She mumbled his name.
".....Kevin....."
He heard her little faint whisper of his name, making him open his eyes, back away from the other girl and panic. It didn't seem like he regretted anything at the moment. He reached out his hand to Nicole.
"Babe... it's not what you think...!!!"
It's over. She turned the other way and started running in the opposite direction. Kevin bolted after her, hoping to fix his mistake.
"Nicole wait!!!"
She didn't want to hear his excuses, no wonder he's been acting so distance over these past couple of months. With her heart ripped in two, she escaped and hid from him until her she was able to walk away from the school without him noticing. Now here she is, 20 minutes later. Sniffling, wiping away tears and walking home. She hates crying; it makes her feel small, weak and sensitive, which Nicole hates. This goes to show that relationships like that aren't meant for her.
But she couldn't help it. They started off as best friends in middle school. They had lockers right next to each other, had lunch together, classes are all the same, but once they became first-year students is when she started developing feelings for him. It wasn't until the beginning of the junior year of high school that he felt the same and asked her out. But that was a year ago, today even. But what does it matter? He broke her. Now she's lost her best friend and boyfriend to another girl. With no one to turn to, she broke down in tears again.
A loud sound of thunder distracted her from her thoughts, looking up ahead of her was a storm brewing. But she is still minutes away from home. Usually, Kevin would be taking her home by now, but that's not the case. She looked around and found a large oak tree with a little cove under some branches. The only shelter Nicole can see. She ran and hid under the massive branches, seeing that the storm is coming closer quite fast. She put the hood of her jacket over her head, having her arms across her chest and curling into a ball to stay warm until the storm is over.
The strong winds carried around leaves, and branches from the trees surrounding the dirt road path. Nicole's past relationship with Kevin was the least of her worries right now. The only thing she can think about is the storm being over soon so she can go home faster and stay in her room for the rest of the day. But the wind has been going on for minutes, she couldn't push through it and continue walking home. She's not that strong. She continued to hide and bury her face into the jacket she was wearing. She shivered and whimpered at how cold she was becoming. She looked up one more time, but then as if her luck couldn't get any worse, a small but sharp branch, flying through the air, striked her on the forehead, causing her to cry out in pain while she started to bleed.
After what felt like another hour, the storm ended. Nicole's breathing relaxed but forehead still aching, she slowly and weakly got up, wanting to go home. She looked around at all the damage the rain has caused. She lightly placed her hand on the wound. Not bleeding as much as before, but still damaging. She began to walk home once more, feeling terrified. But in the distance, she could see a fantasy dressed guy riding a horse. He looked like one of those princes from a storybook. He saw Nicole and instantly rode over to her aid.
"Who are you? And how come you are dressed funny?" Nicole was taken back at the last question.
"First off, my name is Nicole and what do you mean by I'm dressed funny? I believe that it's you who is dressed funny" She snapped back. The guy snarled a bit but looked at her wound.
"What happened there?"
"Well I got caught up in a storm, and one of the branches hit me..." The boy rolled his eyes.
"Women nowadays..." he mumbled to himself before looking back at Nicole.
"Well listen, Nicole, let's talk somewhere else where we can get your wound healed..." He jumped off his horse, prepared to lift her on it. She backed away.
"Um, I am not going anywhere with you! My house is minutes away, and I don't even know who you are!" The strange boy sighed in frustration.
"My mistake, the name is Prince Jordan Lusi, now do you want to feel better soon or not?" He gritted through his teeth. Nicole grumbled.
"Yes but my house is right around the corner Prince Jordan!! so there for, I don't need-"
"Wait what house? I've been through this part of the country before and have never seen one on this road" Nicole sighed in annoyance.
"Fine let me on your horse and I'll take you to it" Jordan bit the side of his cheek.
"Women are so demanding these days..." Nicole couldn't believe him.
"Excuse me?! you said-" Jordan stopped her once again
"Okay okay!! I'll let you show me!!!" He lifted her up on his horse, following afterwards and sits behind her.
"Which way is your home?"
"North from here" Jordan pulled the horse around and started traveling north.
"Now may I ask why would your family let you wear such strange clothes?"
"I might as well ask you the same thing," Nicole said back. Jordan sighed and looked around a little annoyed, giving up on ever getting an answer about her sense of style. Nicole recognized trees, rocks and other things that are on the way to her house. By the time she recognized a tree that is on her family's property, she got excited.
"There!! here is my-" It's gone. the house, the car, everything. Nicole felt confused. She turned on her phone from her jacket pocket. No signal and no wifi to be seen. Jordan looked at the item in Nicole's hand and questioned it.
"What is-"
"Jordan....where are we and what year is it?"
"Don't you know? the year 1645 and we are in the country of Othana!" Nicole couldn't understand. Jordan noticed the lost emotion in her eyes. He spoke up.
"Here, I have a couple of friends down this road, let's go there and get you well..." He turned his horse around again, leaving Nicole confused and scared.
"This is Unreal...." she thought.
