It was early in the morning. Just before dawn, when I went out to the woods to hunt with Gale. He's my bestfriend and hunting partner. His mother and mine are bestfriends aswell. That's how we met. We both live in the Seam. The lowest part of District 12.
As Gale meets me in the woods he yells, "Happy birthday, Catnip!"
"Oh Gale", I respond dully, "it's just any other day."
"Nope, you're 16. You're becoming a big girl. This is huge!", he laughs as he nudges me.
"Whatever! So what do you want to hunt today?" I excitedly say. I love hunting. It makes me so happy.
"Anything that comes our way. Let's start small... with rabbits."
After about 3 hours of hunting, we gather 5 rabbits, and a deer. It was hard work. But so much fun with my bestfriend. We split everything and take it home. We have to be at school in 5 minutes, which is fine considering that the school is like 2 minutes away, walking distance.
It was first period and I was so bored I was falling asleep. Nobody knows it's my birthday so nothing special will happen today. It's going to be as boring as ever. The bell rings and I get up to go to my next hour. As I walking out of the door someone sticks their foot out and I fall and drop everything.
"Watch where you going, seam girl." says the devilish voice from behind me.
"Shut it, Clove. I don't want to hear it today." I reply in a threatening tone.
As I'm picking my stuff up this random boy runs to help me.
I get lost in his beautiful ocean blue eyes and start to stutter, "Umm.. I.. Uhh. Thanks.. A lot."
He smiles "No problem, Umm...?"
"Oh Katniss. Katniss Everdeen." I blush.
"Peeta", he grins with his beautiful perfect smile, "Peeta Mellark."
"Well, hello Peeta. It was nice to meet you. Thank you for helping me." I smile ear to ear lost in his eyes.
"Same. See you around." he replys.
I sure hope so. Wow he was beautiful. Why would he help a seam girl like me? He probably doesn't know. As soon as he finds out he will probably be grossed out. Wow. His eyes. They were the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen in my life. And that smile. And that beautiful blonde hair.
He was perfect absolutely perfect. And today. Today was beginning to be perfect. I can't wait fr what the rest of the day brings.
