"Taehyung!?" Chief Detective Kim Namjoon shouts, as he speedily walks towards the new, young detective.

Kim Taehyung looks up at his caller, chewing on a pen he found earlier.

"Yes, Hyung-nim?" Taehyung replies as the Chief appears at the front of his desk. (a/n plz let me know if using "hyung-nim" over "boss" sounds better or if it's weirder to use hyungnim)

"I have a new case for you," Namjoon slaps the file down in front of Taehyung.

"Alright, what's the rundown?" Taehyung picks up the file, opening it up to reveal the results of a rigorous crime.

"There was a murder, on the South side of town. Most signs point to it being related to the Seo-Yang Faction. I need you to investigate and bring in any suspects you believe to be connected to this case, question, and evaluate them as you see fit. I will be supervising your work here and there but for the most part you are on your own. I want to see how you work as you're our new transfer. As I said, you will be going on your own so it'll be rare for you to have any backup before we figure out who did this. I don't the gang members suspecting anything before we even get the chance to find out what happened, got it?" Namjoon explained briefly to him, placing his hand on Taehyung's shoulder while sending a sympathetic look.

Don't look at me like that. I know what happened 15 years ago. I'm over it. I'm not a child anymore.

"....Well, not like I'm not used to being alone," Taehyung chuckles and sends a wary smile towards Namjoon. He smiles back genuinely.

Good. He knows that what I said was a joke. Thank god, last time I did that they didn't get the joke and it was dead fucking silent. Fun.

It's been a while since Taehyung's had a murder case. It's unlike Taehyung's superiors to give him any new cases involving murder as the last time he had one, the guy got away and he was put on probation, then transferred to the Incheon department where he has only been given petty crimes to start and being given a murder case for the first time in months has the young boy ready to get out there. "I've got some other cases but I'm assuming this is top priority?" Taehyung questions, standing up and adjusting his tie, grabbing what he needs.

"That's just what I was about to say. I will have somebody else take the case you were working on before so this is your only and top priority. All the information you'll need to start is in the file," He explains, stepping aside so they can move to the exit as they converse.

Excitement and stress slowly creep up Taehyung's spine as he reads more thoroughly through the file, giving him goosebumps. Gangs aren't really his thing. Gangs are the reason he's a detective, and the reason his parents are dead.

"I really appreciate the opportunity, Chief," Taehyung exclaims, exhaling a deep sigh once the Chief returns to his post. Alright, let's do this. Fighting! Taehyung yells in his head and makes a tiny fist but quickly puts it down as to not embarrass himself.

Taehyung heads to his car, double checking he's got everything before stepping in and opening up the file. He flips through a few more times, looking over the victim and however many pieces of evidence they picked up from the scene. The first thing on Taehyung's mind is to head to the location of the crime, hoping that there's something there to help him out.
