The sun seeped through the thin curtains to illuminate the bedroom, causing the brunette who had been sleeping peacefully to stir and groan slightly. Reluctantly and groggily, Teresia sat up in her bed, her attention instantly going to the alarm clock at her side. As her vision began to clear and she noticed that the clock read 7:00, the brunette nearly jumped out of her bed.

"Shit, I'm going to be late!" She swore to herself as she began to go through her drawers. "Ajax is so dead when I catch him!"

Without haste, Teresia quickly ran out the room in her school clothes and knocked loudly on her brother's door.

"Ajax, let's go, we're gonna be late!" She shouts to him, hearing him groan a complaint from the other side of the door. "I'm going to leave you behind if you don't get up! The bus should be here in less than five minutes!"

"I'm awake, I'm awake!" The voice of her brother said from the other side, before she could hear his footsteps walking towards the door.

An annoyed sigh escaped Teresia. Ajax was her older brother by about a minute or so. He had been taking care of Teresia for about a year despite still being in highschool himself. The story behind why Ajax was the one watching Teresia?

Well, a year prior to Ajax and Teresia's parent's death, their grandmother had passed away. She had been their only relative since they had no idea who their grandfather was on either side of their parent's side of the family and their grandmother on their father's side had passed already. So, when their parents died, Ajax was the one in "custody" of Teresia.

Back to the current situation, Teresia made her way quickly to the living room, grabbing her keys and backpack on her way out of the house. She didn't have time to wait for Ajax. The brunette just hoped that her older brother made the bus on time.

"Hey, what took you so long to get out here?" The familiar voice of Teresia's best friend, Alecia, asked, impatience and curiosity in her tone.

The blonde standing in front of Teresia's house was not your typical blonde. Pretty? Yes. Skinny? Not so much. Dumb? Does being the MVP on your mathletes team sound like the role of a dumb person?

"Sorry, Al! I slept through my alarm clock. And Ajax slept through his so I didn't have a backup!" Teresia says as she walks up to the blonde with a nervous chuckle.

Alecia chuckles a little and shakes her head in a fake disapproving manner.

"Bad, Tera, bad!" Alecia jokes, the brunette laughing at the fake scolding.

The hiss of the school bus was heard a bit ahead of the two girls. Both gasped and took off into a sprint, quickly reaching the stop just on time. A snicker could be heard behind the two as they boarded.

Teresia looked back and stuck her tongue out childishly at Ajax, who had been the producer of the snicker. From that point, the day moved slowly. It seemed to drag on. This part of the day only came in handy when lunch hit.

"Hey, Tera, you wanna come over tonight for a little? I can order us pizza and you know my parents wouldn't mind you staying at the house for a few hours!" Alecia says, sitting down Teresia with a sandwich as she usually had.

Teresia hummed in thought simply to toy with Alecia. The option to leave the house for a few hours always brought joy to her. It's not that she didn't like to be home, it's just that it was so quiet sometimes that it was almost unbearable.

"Yeah! I'm sure AJ wouldn't mind!" Teresia says with a grin, one forming on Alecia's face at the confirmation.

"Alright, sweet! Hey, have you heard the latest gossip?" Alecia asks, knowing very well that Teresia hadn't.

This is what most of their lunches together consisted of. Alecia always seemed to have the latest gossip somehow. Then again, she had always been a social butterfly and was also very keen on these kind of things.

Teresia was more of a person who stayed to herself, staying out of other's business as to not seem nosey. But what can you say? Curiosity was Teresia's weakness. Everyday, Alecia would give her the daily scoop of what was going around and Teresia would take note.

After what felt like an eternity, the dismissal bell rang. The sweet relief of freedom washed over Teresia and she quickly made her way to the bus loop. All she wanted to do was relax. Upon boarding the bus, she say Ajax already on the bus.

"Hey, AJ! I'm going over to Al's today for a few hours. That's cool, right?" Teresia asks curiously.

The black-haired male nodded.

"Yeah, I'm heading out tonight for a party at Brad's so it works out," Ajax said, earning a disapproving sigh from Teresia.

Brad was the lead quarterback on the football team for their school, Saint Peters High School. Teresia had never liked Brad because of how cocky he seemed. Yet, he somehow made friends with Ajax. How that friendship occured is a mystery.

"Alright, just don't get drunk on me, alright? You know I don't want you drinking and driving," She says, becoming a bit overprotective.

"Alright, Alright. Just remember, I'm the older brother," Ajax says with a taunting grin, earning a playful eyeroll from Teresia.

"Oh shut up, you big idiot!" Teresia says in a playful tone, a small giggle escaping her.

If she had known how her life was going to change that day, her words would have been chosen more carefully. But of course, not everyone can see into the future.
