Marco

I had heard everything that had happened to Veronika even the sickening thud of the man who knocked her out. "Walter," I said my voice frantic. "I know," he said with the same panic in his voice. "I have to find her," I said heading down the same pathway Veronika did. There was a loud bang and I instantly dropped to the ground as I entered the office. I looked up and saw a man with Veronika over his shoulder leave through a corridor.

I got to my feet and said: "Don't worry Walter I'm fine." "Good to hear sir that gunshot gave me a fright," Walter said. I cautiously made my way through the corridor pulling my pistol from my hip. As I turned the corner I heard another gunshot fire off and a bullet hit the wall behind me. "Next time I won't miss boy," the man that carried Veronika said as he ducked through a door into the outside world.

I heard an engine rev and my heart quickened with fear. I ran after them and found that the two were already gone. I spat curses and said, "Walter can you track that truck." "Indeed sir right away," Walter said, "in the meantime why don't you get back to base and relax for a bit while I work on tracking the truck." "Alright I'll return to base but as soon as you get a lock on that truck I'm leaving to find Veronika," I said with a worried sigh as I left the facility. "I'll send in a chopper for you sir," Walter said. "Thanks, Walter," I said quietly.

The helicopter got to the rendezvous point and I hopped on board. "I heard everything that happened Marco" Jackie, our pilot, said, "I'm sure you'll find her." "I have to," I said and the rest of the ride back to Veronika's family estate was silent. I got off of the helicopter and took an elevator down to the first floor of the estate. I went to a bookshelf and pulled on a book which opened up a secret tunnel to where Veronika and I kept all of our equipment and materials we had gathered from hunting wyrms.

Walter turned towards me and said, "good evening sir would you like some tea?" "No thank you," I said, "have you gotten a tag on that truck?" "not yet, sir, it hasn't gotten any clear reading on madam Veronika's tracker," Walter said. I let out a heavy sigh and intently watched the computer screen that sat before me as it scanned for any sign of Veronika. After minutes of inactivity, I got up and paced around a bit then returned to the computer.

I saw a red dot light up on the screen "Walter come here!" I exclaimed. Walter walked over and looked at the screen the truck was leaving the city of Sundown. "I'll make sure it keeps a lock on that truck," Walter said I moved out of the chair and let Walter take over. I ran over to my motorcycle and put on my helmet. The display inside the visor of my helmet lit up displaying the map and the truck leaving the city. I revved up the engine of my bike and drove out of Veronika's family estate.
