June sat with his hand supporting his jaw, thinking 'what went wrong with my confession'. The more he thought about it, the more he regretted it; and he took out his regretting by stabbing his scrambled egg to death.
He came to the conclusion that he didn't understand women just as Angeline stepped into view. June stopped attacking his breakfast to look up. Angeline wore the same dress from yesterday, but to June's she was the very definition of perfect.
"Good morning my Angel." June managed to force out with a smile.
"Good morning June." Angeline addressed back politely, immediately raising an alarm in June's head.
WTF? Is this a dream? June thought as he blinked his eyes several times in disbelief.
"...have a seat." He finally said, then continued: "You said you were on a diet previously, so I didn't tell my chef to make any pancakes. Would you like some?"
"I think I am good." Angeline replied, as she positioned herself onto the chair.
"Ok then..." June felt like rubbing his eyes, but he stopped himself; if this were all an illusion, it's still one worth to fall for. He thought.
"Is there something on my face?" Angeline asked with a small voice, and June suddenly realized he's been staring at Angeline's face for far too long. He quickly turned away to hide his embarrassment. Afterwards the two ate in silence. By the time they finished their breakfast and everything had been cleaned up, June had gathered the courage to clear his throat and speak:
"Sorry, I was a little but harsh on the conditions yesterday, I don't exactly know what has gotten over me, and I am sorry to have kept you here overnight."
"It's alright." Angeline responded.
"You mean you are ok with what I did to you?"
"Honestly I wasn't really sure if I could have trusted myself yesterday in that alley, and I have to thank you for saving me and everything else..." Angeline gave off nervous little laugh, to which June didn't mind joining in.
"I am grateful to hear that. But I am still very sorry to tell you that I was serious about keeping you here."
"Do you have a TV here?" Angeline quickly changed the topic.
There wasn't another word need to be said, with a snap of June fingers a 78 inch flat screen TV flipped over from the cupboard. A brief moment later the word 'welcome' appeared on the screen.
"The TV is set to voice command, the smart TV has over a 2000 channels, so go ahead and say the channel you want to watch."
Angeline managed to hide the surprise on his face as he turned his focus to rummaging through the channels inside his head, in the end he decided to settle for CBC news Vancouver.
"CBC Vancouver." Angeline blurted out. A moment later the screen shifted into CBC news.
"Good morning this is Bella Parks, this morning at 6:35 am another body has been found at River rock Casino at Richmond, and is believed to be another work of the Reaper. Police have started further investigation, results and details are coming out soon. In the meantime..."
"Wait is it possible to see yesterday's news?"
"Which part do you want to see?"
"Morning 9 o'clock news."
The screen shifted:
"Another body has been found in the English bay today 7:45am. The beach is now entirely shut down, there is a lot of panic and unease coming from the locals..."
