I opened the door with a creak and stepped out. Washing my hands, I heard the door to the school bathroom open. It was her. A girl walked in with a planner in her hand pushing her light brown hair behind her ears with her spare fingers. The girl stopped as she saw me and tried not to act like she didn't want to talk to me.
I walked over and stood in front of her. "hey, can I ask you something?"
"uh... sure" she clearly didn't know what to say.
"what did I do?"
"Huh?"
"We were best friends and then you and Maddy just stopped talking to me" tears started to gather in my eyes "What did I do Annie? please just tell me!"
There was a long silence. She wouldn't look at me.
"seems like you've got much better friends anyway" I laughed to myself.
I walked out of the bathroom and couldn't hold the tears so they started to pour out. I saw someone walking towards me down the hallway and I stared at the floor as I headed for my lesson. I felt their gaze on me as we passed each other but they didn't stop me.

I probably should've started with something happy and cheerful but oh well happiness is overrated.
