Denis's POV
"DANG IT! They got away. Kat might not last so long with that hip shot. Nice aim Sketch." I say.
"Thanks, I try." He replies. Alex looks up at me.
"Denis, we gotta get them." He says. I hand him some rope, a syringe, and a small, purple egg.
"You know what to do. Bring back at least one of them, don't matter which. I'll deal with Bandi." I order. Alex nods.
"You got it." He says, and runs after the others. I turn back to Bandi and Sketch, who is now getting up.
"You really thought you could save them, didn't you?" I ask, glaring at him.

Corl's POV
"Come our come out wherever you are! I know you're here!" I heard Alex in the distance. Kat starts to stumble a bit and ends up falling.
"Ouch..." She says, breathing shallow. I help her back up.
"We gotta hide. It's not safe. You're not safe." She wraps her arm around my waist, trying to keep us both upright.
"I'm not safe? Dude, you're limping. You can't run like that." She remarks.
"Yeah, and you are bleeding from the waist." I reply.
"I can run!" She goes to run and then falls flat on her face.
"You just tripped." I chuckle.
"Not the point." She says weakly.
"Get in the freaking cave." We approach the entryway to a small cave and go prop ourselves up on a couple of big rocks. She holds her hip as I check on my leg. I crawl over to her.
"Let me see it."
"It really hurts."
"What, you've never been shot before?" She gave me such a look, that I immediately shut up.
"Sorry."
"It's alright."
"But, in all seriousness, let me see." She moves her hands so I can see the wound. It's pretty small, and I can see the bullet.
"Close your eyes."
"What? Why?"
"Just do it please." I grab the end of it with my fingers and gently pull it out. She starts to shout, but bites her lip, trying not to reveal where we are with her yells.
"It's gone now. Pull your shirt back over it and cover with your hand. The bleeding should stop."
"What about your leg?"
"I'll be fine."
"Corl..." Its getting dark out.
"Please go to sleep."
"Fine." I settle into my spot and Kat lays her head on my good leg.
"Corl?" She says quietly.
"Yeah?" I reply, looking at the back of her head.
"Remember when I yelled at them that I wasn't scared?" She asks.
"Yeah..."I answer.
"I was terrified." She says, and with that, we fall asleep.

(time skip to morning)

Kat's POV
I wake up to happy birds chirping and leaves rustling in harmony with the soft summer breeze. Then I hear a weird sort of rustling. I sit up and look at the entrance to the cave, then back to Corl, who is now sleeping on his back. I stand, my body stiff from sleeping on the hard ground. I take a few steps out and away from our little hiding place. As soon as I can't see the cave anymore, that weird rustling starts again. It's closer to me this time. I whirl around and face the tall grasses that were there. I take a couple steps backwards. I'm in a small forest clearing, a little circle of some grass with trees surrounding it. The rustling is right in front of me. Something else is here.
"Alex?" I say. A growl was the only response.
"Man, if you're half wolf now, I'm done." Another growl.
"Alex, I swear. Either we end it now or you leave us alone and go back to normal!" A large wolf jumped out at me.
"OH MY GOD!" I shout and sprint as fast as I can. I turn the corner and head forward. That wolf is nipping at my heels. I push on. I hear a snap and a whoosh, then my feet are swept out from under me. I hang upside down, a rope wrapped around my ankle, tied to a tree branch. I spin around a little bit and the wolf reaches the tree I'm hanging off of. The wolf lunges at my face and I scream, covering it with my arms. But nothing happens. I peek out from between my arms, and the huge wolf I saw was now a little purple egg.
"What?" I whisper to myself, uncovering my face fully. I spin around a bit more and I see Alex emerging from behind the tree. He pulled the trap as I ran over it.
"Alex?!" I say.
"That's me. How are you?"
"Why do you care? You got me now. Well...if I escape then you don't."
"Yeah, that's not going to happen." He pulls a small syringe out of his pocket and comes towards me.
"No. No no no. Get away from me." I feel a small prick on my thigh and immediately feel drowsy. Not sure if it's the blood rushing to my head, or whatever was in that syringe, but either way, I'm losing consciousness. He cuts me loose and I lay on the ground, half asleep. He gets on his knees, pulls me onto his lap, and looks at me as I fall asleep in his arms.

Alex's POV
I got her. That was easy. I wind some leftover rope around her wrists and ankles then slip the wolf egg back into my pocket. I gather her up in my arms bridal style and start walking back to our new place.
