Lucas's POV
It's a warm August evening and Skyla, my parents, and I are all eating dinner in the living room. Every Friday we order a pizza and bread sticks and watch a movie or two. "Lucas, Skyla" our mom begins nervously. "Your father and I have something to tell you."
"What is it?" Skyla asks with her mouth full of pizza. Skyla has long, light blue hair and sapphire blue eyes.
"Yeah, you guys look nervous about something," I add. My dad turns off the T.V. and looks at my mom, the two of them having a silent conversation. My mom has fuchsia hair that goes about midway down her back and magenta eyes, like me. Except for the hair though.
"Um, well, you see, what we are about to tell you will change your guys's lives forever," our dad starts. He has light brown hair that's graying a bit at the temples.
"Can you stop stalling and get to the point?" Skyla asks as nicely as she can. Which is pretty hard, since it's Skyla.
"Fine," mom says. "You two are a witch and wizard."
"WHAT?!" Skyla and I exclaim at the same time.
"That's impossible!" Skyla exclaims, her pizza falling out of her hand.
"There's no such thing as witches and wizards!" I add.
"Actually there is," our dad says. He gets up and leaves the room, leaving Skyla and I with mom.
"Is this true, or is this some sort of twisted joke?" Skyla eventually asks our mom.
My mom was about to respond when my dad entered the room holding something behind his back. "It's very true," he says. "You know how I told you two that your mom and I met in high school?" He asked. We both nodded. "Well, we went to a high school for witches and wizards. It's called Ormenia Academy, and your mother and I have enrolled you there for this school year."
"Seriously?" I ask. My parents nod and my dad shows us what was behind his back. It's information about the school.
"Your first day is August 27," mom says, smiling.
"Will we need anything?" Skyla asks.
"Notebooks for every class, pencils and pens, and a book bag. Textbooks will be handed out on the first day, along with devices and cauldrons. And today your mom and I went to the school to get your guys' schedules," dad says.
"Tomorrow I can take you guys to get your book bags and notebooks," mom adds.
"Oh, and I have your schedules right here too," dad says, pulling to papers out of his pocket. He hands each of us one, and we open them at the same time.
"Dad you gave me the wrong one," Skyla and I say in unison.
"Oops, my bad," dad says. Skyla and I swap papers and look at our schedules.

"What's your schedule?" I ask Skyla. We compare our classes, and we only have P.E. and our free period together.
"Aw man, we only have two classes together," Skyla says, frowning.
"At least we have two and not zero," I comment.
"Yeah, I guess," she replies.
"What movie should we watch?" Mom asks.
"I dunno," Skyla and I say at the same time.
"How about... Aristocats," Skyla says after a few moments of all of us thinking of what to watch. We all agree on that and sit on the couch and chair to watch the movie.

On the way to the mall the next morning, Skyla and I talk in the back seat. "I wonder what Maya and Gabe are gonna think about this," Skyla whispers to me.
"Same," I whisper back.
"Wait... mom, are we allowed to tell our friends about this?" I ask mom.
"Yes, since I know how close all of you guys are," she answers.
"Okay then... we should plan a time to meet up with them so we can tell them," Skyla says.
"Yeah," I agree. "How about when we get back from the mall we plan something?"
"Okay," Skyla agrees.
After the mall, all four of us agree to meet up later that night at Maya's house. Our mom takes us there and we thank her for taking us and walk into Maya's house. We don't knock since we've been going there for so long, ever since first grade. "Hey guys!" Maya exclaims when we enter her room. Gabe is already there, sitting on a bean bag. Maya's parents have a big house and a lot of money, and Maya's an only child, so she has a massive room.
"Sup guys," Gabe says.
"Nothing much," I say.
"Except for one big thing," Skyla adds. "We need to tell you something really important.""What happened? Is everything okay?" Maya asks, looking concerned. Maya has light brown hair with pink streaks that goes down to her shoulders and bright green eyes. Gabe has blonde hair and hazel eyes.
"Yes, everything's fine, but Lucas and I just found out something that will change mine and Lucas's life forever probably.""So what is it?" Gabe asks.
"Well," I say, "Skyla and I just found out we are a witch and wizard, like our parents."
"That's so cool!" Maya exclaims.
"Yes, but there's a bad part to it," Skyla says. "Lucas and I have to go to a school for witches and wizards."
"But we had stuff planned to do for high school," Maya says.
"Yes we know, and we can still text and hang out. It isn't a boarding school, it's just like every other school, except it is for learning about witch and wizard stuff," Skyla explains.
"Oh, okay, that's good," Maya says with relief. "I was worried for a second that you were going to be sent off."
"Wait a second," Gabe says, "if you are a witch and wizards, I'm gonna start calling you two the 'Magical Freaking Unicorns'."
"'Magical Freaking Unicorns'?" Skyla asks.
"Well Skyla, it looks like we are now 'Magical Freaking Unicorns'," I say, and then all four of us continue with our sleepover.

Hey guys! I hope you like the prologue. I know it's short, but I am super tired and want to go to bed. The first chapter should be coming in a couple of weeks.
Shoutout to April_Storm52 , who is one of my best friends, and also keeps nagging me about this book.
