Skyla's POV
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! My alarm goes off and I yawn, picking up my phone to look at the time. 6:00 A.M flashes brightly in my face. "Stupid school," I mutter, rolling out of bed to take a shower.
I go downstairs and pour myself a cup of orange juice, and Lucas comes down a few seconds later. When we go into the living room, mom and dad are sitting on the couch and grinning widely. "Let me get a picture!" Mom squeals, pulling her phone out of her pocket and standing up. "My two babies are going to their new school! Now Lucas, put your arm around your sister. Perfect! Now smile!" We smile and mom takes a few pictures... well, she takes a lot of pictures. "We're leaving in five minutes, okay?"
On the way to school, I stare out the window. It's thunder storming and I slight smile overtakes my face. I know it's weird, but I like thunderstorms, they're soothing.
We get to the school, and it looks amazing. The school itself is surrounded by a forest, which is awesome, and the school is also amazing. It is three stories tall, and is made out of gray stone bricks.
"Fancy," I say, and Lucas nods in agreement.
We pull up to a set of double doors and mom looks back at us and smiles. "Okay guys, I'm leaving you here. Have fun, and don't listen to anyone if they are rude to you. Bye guys, I love you!"
"Bye mom," Lucas and I say in unison as we slam our doors shut.
"Are you ready?" Lucas asks. I nod my head and we walk into our new school.
We enter the school, and a wave of noise hits me. There are students in the halls talking before their first class.
We walk to our lockers and drop our book bags off- luckily our lockers are next to each other- grab the stuff to take to our class, and look at each other. "I guess this is where we part," I say.
"Yeah," Lucas replies. "I'll see you at lunch?"
"You know it." And then I turn and head in the direction of my class.

After school, I find Lucas and we start making our way out of the school. I'm talking to him when suddenly I hit something and fall down. I look up and see a girl with green hair and eyes. "You okay?" She asks. I nod my head, standing up.
"Sorry... I wasn't looking where I was going, then you came out of nowhere, and then boom, I'm on the floor," I ramble.
"I don't think I've seen you around before. What's your name?" She asks. I look over at Lucas, who is looking at me with a smirk and raised eyebrows.
"Um.... I'm Skyla. Me and my brother haven't come to this school before today, so... yeah," I say. I can practically hear Lucas mentally face palming himself.
"Cool, I'm Hazel. Well, I'll see you around."
"Yeah," I reply, and she walks away.
I look over at Lucas once he's gone and we both grin. "Oh my gosh! That girl is so cute!" Lucas squeals.
"Mhm," I agree. We walk out of the school, and on to the bus to take home.
"Skyla," Lucas whispers.
"What?" I ask.
"You wanna know who I see?"
I look around and spot Hazel. "I see her."
Lucas finds a spot to sit and place our book bags on our feet. "We meet again," I hear a voice say. I glance at Lucas, who's sitting by the window, and see him smirking, trying to hide it by staring out of the windows.
"Yes we do," I say, looking at Hazel.
"So, what grade are you in?" She asks me.
"Wow, you really wanna find out everything about me, don't you?" I joke. "But, I'm in tenth grade."
"Same," she tells me.
"Cool," I say. I look at Lucas and punch him.
"Ow! What was that for?" He asks, rubbing his arm.
"You know what that was for," I hiss.
"Scary Skyla is coming out," he says. "I'm only trying to help you though. I mean, look at her! Even though I'm gay...."
"Wow... gotta pull out the gay card, we're all gay here. I wouldn't be surprised if mom and dad told us they were both secretly gay," I joke.
When we get home, Lucas and I go to my room to do homework. "Let's get a snack," Lucas suggests when we drop our book bags on the floor.
"Okay," I say, standing up with him. We go downstairs and get food and a drink, and go back upstairs.
"I still can't believe we already have homework and it's only the first day of school," Lucas complains.
"I know! We need some freedom," I reply. "But it's better to get it done now so we can do whatever we want later."
"I guess," Lucas says, and we get started on our homework.
