Alfred looked around the vast halls of the castle that was Hogwarts. It may not be Illvermony, but it still was amazing. The entire thing had a mideval look to it, and was lit by torch light. It was magnificent.
Alfred's twin, Matthew, nudged him slightly "Isn't this place cool? See... I told you it wouldn't be the end of the world" Matthew whispered to his brother.
"Yeah, I guess you're right!" He said a little louder than necessary.
"Shh!" A short, blonde boy with bushy eyebrows hushed them intensely.
"What's your problem, eyebrows?" Alfred asked with an upset tone in his voice. He didn't want to have to deal with some party pooper ruining his fun straight away.
"I'm trying to listen!" The boy hissed again, hiding his eyebrows with his hair.
Alfred grumbled under his breath and went back to studying everything in awe. He had nothing better to do while waiting."All right! First years, follow me!" A young man, apparently a professor, called from in front of the doors as he began leading the line of children into the mess hall.
The ceiling was marvelous, Alfred couldn't help but gawk at it in amazement as they walked towards the front of the hall, where a hat sat on top of a stool. The hat looked old and worn with several wrinkles on the front, that oddly looked a bit like a face to Alfred.
The professor walked up and stood next to the stool and began reading names from a scroll. "Emily Coan!" He called as a young girl with pig tails ran up and sat on the stool, the hat being placed on her head.
Suddenly the face-like wrinkles became a face. Alfred stared in amazement as the hat began to ponder before declaring loudly "Gryffindor!""Alfred Jones!" The professor called. Alfred ran up quickly and sat on the chair, excitement coursing through him as the hat was placed on his head. He smiled happily and stared up at the brim of the hat.
"Hmmm... excited are we?" The hat asked before going back to thinking "Hm... an American at Hogwarts?"
After thinking a bit more the hat suddenly called out, much to Alfred's delight "Gryffindor!"
Alfred climbed off the stool after the hat had been taken off, and ran over to where all the clapping students in red were.
He sat down next to a pale, albino boy, who was gesturing for him to come over.
"Hello, new kid! You're an American right?" He asked, but didn't give Alfred a chance to respond before wrapping an arm over his shoulder and continuing to talk "Zat's so awesome! Do you haf an accent? Do you like it here? Of course you do!"
"Gilbert!" A brunette next to him cut in "Give the kid some space, he just got here for God's sake!"
The brunette smiled at Alfred "My name is Antonio, and this is Gilbert. You are?"
"Alfred! I'm gonna be a hero!"
"He does have an accent!" Gilbert cut in again.
"So do you..." Antonio said with an eye roll.
Alfred giggled. He was glad to have made friends so easily."Arthur Kirkland!" Arthur's older brother called as Arthur hesitantly walked forward. "Good luck, Artie"
Arthur sat on the stool and held his breath, staring straight ahead blankly as the hat was placed on his head. He could hear the hat murmuring something.
"Another Kirkland? Hm..." The hat thought for a moment "Slytherin!" It declared as the Slytherin table began to cheer.
Arthur stood up and hurriedly moved to the table, sitting down next to a blonde first year.
He looked over "My name is Lukas..."
Arthur nervously kept his hair in his face "I-I'm Arthur Kirkland"
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Arthur"
"Likewise..." Arthur murmured."Gryffindor!" The hat called out, the moment it touched Matthew's head. He scurried over to where his brother was, sitting next to him and remaining utterly silent.
"Attention Students!" The headmaster spoke out into the hall "My name is Julius Vargas! And I am your headmaster"
He continued to give his speech. Arthur listened intently while Alfred's thoughts wandered off into space.
"I'm proud to announce our new Defense Against The Dark Arts Teacher, Allistor Kirkland, an alumni from our very school. I expect that you treat him with the upmost respect!"
Alfred was definitely bored. He ended up ignoring the rest until he announced the start of the feast.--Three Weeks Later--
Arthur fumbled to pick up Alfred's books as Alfred stared at him with a strange look.
"Eyebrows? Is that you?"
Arthur looked up "Sh-shut up, you American idiot!" He said while throwing the books he had picked up back down.
"W-what was that for?!"
"Try being less rude to others! Manners could do a git like you some good!"
Alfred growled "You brits are so annoying!" He shouted in Arthur's face "Your sass is almost as big as your fat eyebrows!"
Arthur covered his bushy eyebrows with his bangs "You're just a bloody git with no brains or guts!"
"Guts?!" A few upperclassmen were trying to calm the situation down "I'll show you guts! From this point forward you are my biggest rival! I swear I'll graduate way over you!" He screamed in the brit's face before grabbing his books and storming away.
"Whatever! I hope the whomping willow gets you!" Arthur shouted before running away to find Lukas and his one other friend, Vladimir.
