Sarah quickly ran through the school heading to her first class, which she was praying that she won't be late for. As she turned the corner she unexpectedly ran into someone, bracing herself as she thought she would hit the floor. She opened her deep blue eyes to meet a pair of honey brown eyes. "Oh my, I am so sorry! I didn't see you. I was lost in my own world." She stumbled over her words as she was handed her books that she dropped. "It's fine, I believe I'm lost. I'm looking for the gym?" She smiled a bit and shook her head lightly, "Then you're heading the wrong way, I have it 1st block. Are you a new student? Wait... You're not in a uniform... Are you a new teacher, perhaps?" She tilted her head as she looked back up at him. He smiled and puffed up goofily, "I am your new P.E. Teacher." Sarah started laughing as nodded. "Well it's nice to meet ya, Coach?" "Kyle Ross. You can call me Kyle, Coach Kyle, or Coach Ross. Anything you like." He smiled as they walked to class talking about the things that went on around school this time of year. The whole time she couldn't understand why she was acting so strange, she always felt so afraid of men, though with him she felt at ease and safe. She found out he was twenty-two and new to the area. He was really nice and seemed in his element. As they got near the gym she stopped and said, "I gotta go get changed, see ya in class coach." She smiled and ran into the girls' locker room. She got changed and noticed a fresh bruise on the nape of her neck; she covered it up with her ace bandage as she lightly wrapped her chest. She made sure the other bruises and cuts were covered and protected.
Sarah came out with a few of the last of the girls and stretched before she ran for the volley ball and the game was started with her jumping and hitting it in with 4 points. Kyle gawked in amazement as he watched her play, he noticed she was in her element and always kept her eyes on her opponents. He watched as she won the match with a 42. Kyle waved her over and watched her as she waved a few of the girls ahead of her. "Hey coach! What's up?" She smiled and tilted her head a bit. "That was amazing! How do you play like that? You don't seem like the athletic type?" She giggled and explained that she loved playing it but never wanted to compete due to money issues. He nodded and told her to get showered and to come back out. Sarah ran off and quickly showered and came back, her blonde and blue streaked hair now pulled in a loose ponytail, her side bangs barely covering her eyes. She walked out and noticed he was putting away the balls and the volleyball net. Sarah hurried over and helped him pick everything up and swept up some of the trash left behind. "I'm usually the one to pick everything up after class," she said as she threw away the last of the trash. "Oh really? Why didn't the former coach do it?" She shrugged and trailed off as she looked at the clouds. "You remind me of someone I use to know, she was a lot like you, but she played in sports a lot. I lost contact with her about 10 years ago." She smiled and nodded. She wasn't sure if it was a compliment or an insult, so she kept quiet. The bell rang as it signaled 1 minute till class starts. She nearly jumped out of her skin as she realized she was going to be late. "Oh no, I spaced out! I'm going to be late!" She picked up her books and nearly ran Kyle over before he said, "Sarah wait. Take these with you. One is an excuse and the other is my cell number. I'd like to talk to you some more." She smiled as she took them and ran like she was in the Olympics and made it to class with seconds to spare.
Her 2nd block teacher scolded her for nearly being late. Sarah's next three classes went by in a blur until she realized she was alone in the halls and she got a chill. She looked around and started rushing to her locker when some slammed their fist into it. "Whatcha doing Sarah? You should know better." She shook lightly as she said, "I don't know what you mean, Derik." He slammed her into the lockers roughly as his buddies huddled around them. His hand tightening around her throat as he started to lift her from the ground. "I told you to talk to no one; you are mine and mine alone. No one is to touch you but me. Do you want your wings to be broken?" She looked at him as her vision started to blur, "I..I'm sorry.. It won't happen again.... I promise..." She gasped out before he dropped her to the ground. She breathed in deeply and coughed as the air swept into her lungs. "Sarah! Get away from her!" Kyle demanded as he shoved them out of the way to reach the coughing Sarah. "Are you okay? What did they do?" As she caught her breathe, she looked from Derik to Kyle and shakily said, "Nothing they just gave me a fright, I'll be ok Coach.." "Yeah, she'll be just fine Coach." He growled at Kyle. He stood up and faced Derik and looked almost a foot down, "She better be fine or I'll personally see that you're taken off the football team and hockey team. Don't test me. I have more bite than you." Kyle growled back as he looked down at Sarah. "You know where to reach me if you need anything. Okay, Sarah?" She nodded lightly not being able to talk from the soreness. The boys ran off to class as she got her things from her locker and wrote something down quickly and bumped it into his pocket. She ran off to her class and prayed he would read the note.
