It was just an ordinary day, walking to school as I saw my childhood friend, Saki running towards me, completely oblivious to everything surrounding her, I stood as she catches her breath, as she speaks in a soft voice
"Wait for meeee! You were thinking of leaving meeee!"
"Its because you take so long, that I end up waiting for you..." I sigh.
"Awww, you meanie!!!" she pouts.
"I wouldn't want everyone to see us like we're dating or something" I say as I start walking.
"You w-walk too fast! As i said, waaait for meeeee!!" She runs again.
"Ugh, Come on, hurry up"
We then began walking to school, seeing the normies hold hands with their girlfriends as I walk alongside my childhood friend
"Oooh, look at them, Akio, couples walking to school together" she says while walking beside me
"Yeah yeah, I'm already content on games on anime, I don't have time for that" I said as I look away from the couples
"Hmph!" she huffs.
After our small talk, we finally arrived at the school gate, and from there, I rushed and exchanged my school shoes with indoor shoes for class
"Saki, I will be going to class now, See you later when I got nothing to do" I say as I run to my classroom
"Okayyy~" she says as she changes to her indoor shoes.
*In Class*
Teacher: In History, we are told that some story elements can deeply impact a reader because of its message, may be a good trait or a bad trait, and with psychological horror, it can change your perspective
I sigh as I stare at the teacher and her voice becomes quieter and quieter to my ear, but it comes back as the teacher threw an eraser at me, rendering me awake
"Wah-" I let out a surprised scream
Teacher: Akio! How dare you sleep in my class?!
"Ah! I'm sorry" I say as I bow my head
The entire class then laughed at my stupid mistake and after that, everyone went back to their usual activities like drawing, reading, as long as they were listening to the lesson
*Lunch Break*
As Lunch Break rolled over, I head to the cafeteria when suddenly Daichi climbed on me
"Yo, brother Akio, what's up?"
"Nothing much, how bout you?" I asked him
"Well, I tried talking to Yui today but she was too focused reading her book, Argh" he groaned in a sad tone
"Is that so, huh"
"Come on, Akio! I had a massive crush on her since last year, you know!" He bumps me in the shoulder
"Yeah, you told me about that last year too, when are you gonna give up? She might have a boyfriend already, not that I know" I say to him, as he lets out a sigh
"Don't make me sad, Akio, I am already sulking as it is" he puts his arms on my shoulders
"Suffer." I said coldy
Daichi and I then ate lunch together and talked about girls in the higher classes, but one name they mentioned I became interested in was the name Momoka, the boys in my classes then heard what I said under my breath
"Momoka, ehh?? You interested in her? She's perfect, you know, smart, beautiful and athletic, way out of your league, brother Akio" Eita, my friend said to me
"No, I just became curious, that's all" I said as I put my head down
"If you get ahead of us, Akio, we will never forgive you!" my friends said in chorus
"Yeah yeah" I just dismissed their conversation as nonsense and took a rest
*End of Class*
"Akio! We'll go ahead, together with Eita and others to the Arcade, so I won't be able to go home with you today, maybe next time!" Daichi said as he waves goodbye
"Alright, better pack my things then" I said but then in the corner of my vision, I saw Saki looking around my classroom
"Saki. Why are you here? What's your business?" I ask her from afar
She then comes closer to me, to answer my question
"Well...I was thinking for you to come with me to check out the club i'm in" Saki answers
"Clubs? I'm sorry and not sorry but I won't be joining your club" I said
"Whaaa, I even told them I would be finding new members for the club" she squeals
"Don't make promises you can't keep, Saki!" I told her
"Come on, Could you atleast check out our club? there's even cupcakes" My head perks up from the mention of cupcakes
"Alright alright, where is this club of yours?" I ask her
"Come with me, I'll lead you~"
We then walked onwards to Saki's club which was located at the senior's wing where everybody rarely goes to
She then slid open the door and greeted everyone
"Hey everyoneee~ I found ourselves a new member!" Saki says
"Hey! Don't call me a new member-" I shouted
"Welcome to our club" A girl with violet hair bowed at me as she spoke in a crystal clear but timid voice
"Okay Akio! This is Yui , she's shy but is very smart with things I don't understand, she even teaches me whenever I have a hard time in a certain subject" Saki says to me
As another one pouts and locks her arms to her chest
"Seriously? You brought a boy?" She said in an irritated tone
"Natsumi, Don't treat our guest like that" Yui says
"Whaaat? I-I'm just saying what i feel, Ugh!" She huffs
This girl, Natsumi is a face I don't recognize but due to her petite size, I think she's a first year at school
"And you must already know Momoka, right? Akio?" Saki asks me
Momoka then walked up to me, bending a little bit towards me
"Akio, didn't expect to see you here! Welcome!" she says
Momoka is well-known in this school, since she's smart, beautiful, athletic like what Daichi said, way out of my league but having her smile at me so genuinely makes me a little.....
"Y-you too, Momoka" I say to her shyly
"Now that introductions are over-" As Saki was about to speak, Yui then walk towards the back and as she arrives, she held a cup of tea for each of us and put it on the table arranged for the club
Natsumi also brought a cart with a white sheet on top of it and with no hesitation, she pulled the white sheet and revealed a dozen of cupcakes all neatly arranged
"Woooahhh~" Saki and Momoka uttered in shock as they saw the cupcakes which were decorated to look like little cats with chocolate crumbs as its ears
"They all look soo cutee, Natsumi~" Saki said as she presents a wide smile
"Ehehehe, Go ahead and take one!" Natsumi says
Saki and Momoka takes one but Saki instantly shoved it to her mouth as tears fall from her face
"Shooo good~" Saki says
I take a look of the cupcakes i took but I noticed Natsumi sneaking glances at me
"Well? Go ahead and eat it..." Natsumi says
I took a bite of the cupcake and found myself liking it, and Natsumi's bright expression
"Its delicious, Natsumi, you're amazing" I say as I chew
"Well, its not like I made it for you or anything, dummy!" Natsumi says
Haven't I heard this somewhere before? I then give up on Natsumi's weird logic, as Yui approaches me and everyone enjoying the cupcakes Natsumi has made
"So, what do you like to read, Akio?" Yui asks me
Its been a long time since I read anything in particular so I just answered what was on my mind
"Manga...." I said awkwardly, but I noticed Natsumi's head perk up as if to say something but stops
"Ohh, so you don't read often...." Yui says in a sad tone
"But that can change" I said suddenly upon seeing Yui's sad face
"What about you? Yui?" I ask her
"I like stories that are built professionally on deep complex fantasy worlds, stories that can change your perspective or on how you see things, stories like that makes it hard for me to put down especially the stories with psychological elements that challenges you to look at life in a different perspective"
The more I listened to her, her timidness from when we met were gone, thus concluding that she finds comfort in books, not people
"I'm rambling, aren't I? I apologize" Yui says as she quickly bows her head
"Ohh no, its fine, it was interesting to hear what you like, In fact, its cool" I say to reassure her
"Really? I'm glad..." Yui lowers her head as she goes back to her seat
Momoka then approached me as she was finished drinking her tea cup and eating her cupcake
"So What made you consider the Literature Club?" Momoka asks
"Um...."
I was afraid of this question. I won't tell her that I was just forced to come here by Saki so I just came up with a natural response
"I was just searching for some clubs but this one turned out to be interesting" I said
"Ohh I see~" Momoka said
"Also, You were in the debate club last year, right?" I ask
"Ohh I've quit from the debate club" She answers
"Why'd you quit?" I ask her again
"I've quit since I can't stand around the politics and publicity of the club and its important duty when it comes to school activities" She answers
"I rather take something I like and make something out of it!" She added
"Hmmm, that's good reasoning" I said
After out little break, Momoka then rounded all of us up for what to do for the next day
Momoka and the others discussed what to do for the next club meeting but In the back of my mind, I remembered something
"I never said I would join this club!" I uttered as they all stared at me with dejected eyes
"I thought..." Momoka quietly whispered
"But-" Yui whispers as well
"Wha-" Natsumi was quietly shocked
"Akio...." Saki as well
All such different girls interested in the same goal, I decided to clear my head and make a decision
"I will join the Literature Club"
"Really? You will?" Momoka asks in shock
"Thank goodness" Yui says as she sighs in relief
"If you leave, after all that, I would have been super pissed." Natsumi says
"Yayyyy~" Saki jumps up and hugs me tightly
"Alright alright, Saki" I said
"As celebration of Akio joining this club, let each of us make a poem to share for tomorrow as our next club meeting!" Momoka said
"That's not so bad" Yui says
"Sure..." Natsumi says
"Ooooh, I'm excited on how will turn out!" Saki says
"And with that, Our club meeting officially comes to an end with a new member joining us, and that is Akio" Momoka said
"I am excited on how will you express yourself, Akio" she added
"I-I'll do my best!" I said
Saki then approached me and said
"Since we're in a club together now, lets go home together as well!"
Its been a long time since we went home together because she always had to stay in school due to her club
"Very well, lets go" I say as Saki spreads her arms and runs fast on the way home, As I walked slowly and thought about what just happened today
Saki, Natsumi, Yui and of course, Momoka
All these beautiful girls, Will i be able to spend everyday with them and make relationships along the way, it all comes to what I will be writing tonight
And thus, I await for the new things I will experience
