The darkness engulfed everything, leaving me unable to see anything at all. The weight of the situation pressed upon me, causing nervousness to well up inside. Tears filled my eyes, and my hands trembled uncontrollably. I had acted without thinking, speeding the car forward, unaware of the consequences it could bring.
Now it was done. Irreversible. There was no way to change what had happened.
I desperately wanted to call out her name, but my mouth remained silent, unable to form any words. I stood there, speechless and helpless.
With faltering steps, I approached the side of the car. The door hung half-open, and she lay partially inside and partially outside the vehicle. Her hands were pressed against her chest, and her eyes remained closed, unmoving like a lifeless figure. I hesitantly reached out and brushed her hair away from her face, revealing a deep bruise on her forehead.
I closed my eyes briefly, then opened them again. Gently, I pressed against her wound, and she stirred slightly, emitting a soft moan. Fearful of causing more harm, I withdrew my hand immediately. I carefully cradled her in my trembling arms and placed her fragile body in the backseat, attempting to make her as comfortable as possible.
I hurriedly took my place in the driver's seat and started the engine, but nothing happened. Panic rose within me as I searched for the key, attempting to start the car once more, only to be met with the same result.
Stepping out of the car, I surveyed the damage inflicted upon it. The front was badly mangled, rendering it immobile. I should have realized the extent of the damage earlier.
Frustration consumed me, and I slumped onto the seat, burying my head in my hands. My thoughts were scattered, making it difficult to think straight.
But I had to do something. I couldn't leave Aria vulnerable to any further harm. She was under my care, and I couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to her.
Amidst my turmoil, I climbed up the steps, desperately trying to stop passing cars by waving my hand vigorously. However, not a single vehicle came to a halt. I clenched my fists and gritted my teeth in disbelief at the inhumanity of people.
In a surge of frustration, I kicked the front door of the car with such force that something fell onto the car floor. Retrieving it, I found a device—a lifeline. I could call for an ambulance.
Before dialing the number, I glanced back at Aria, still lying motionless in the backseat. The sight of her in that state, knowing it was my fault, pained my heart and twisted my stomach. A profound sense of guilt overwhelmed me, and I closed my eyes, allowing the tears to flow.
How could I have been so lost and careless?
I shook my head, took a deep breath, and dialed the ambulance service. Within half an hour, the ambulance arrived. White-clad paramedics emerged, casting worried glances in my direction before attending to Aria. They handled her gently, placing her on a stretcher and loading her into the ambulance. I followed them, unwilling to leave her alone. I needed to inform someone about my car, so I called Luke for assistance. When I initially told him about the accident, he sounded concerned, but upon hearing that I was unharmed, he breathed a sigh of relief. Typical big brother.
Exhaustion washed over me as I sighed, observing Aria's red top, now stained even redder with blood. Drops of blood adorned her black jacket, and her jeans and boots were also tainted. It was a distress.

The atmosphere inside the hospital seemed heavy with worry and anticipation. I handed over the necessary documents and completed the payment process, feeling a mix of guilt and responsibility for the situation. Aria's dad looked at me with a somber expression, clearly struggling with his own emotions. I could tell he was torn between gratitude and concern for his daughter.
