A loud crash followed by the sound of breaking glass tears my attention away from my drawling. A shout following the clatter that sounds a lot like 'God Dammit' then follower by another shout 'Bobby be quiet we don't need the neighbors to dislike us!' I scurry to the window to see a woman with blonde hair pick up a box with the name 'Greg' etched on the side and walk into the house next door. A man with dark hair is crouching over shards of glass carefully picking up every shard delecatly.
"Mummy?" My voice carries out through the house as my feet pad their way to the kitchen.
"Hmm?" She asks barely turing away from the stove.
"Who those people movin' in next door?" My curious voice asks.
"The Horans. Lovely couple. They even have a little boy your age. You should go out and say hello to him. He needs a friend you know," She glances over her shoulder once then tilts her head towards the door. "I'll be out in a minute."
I wag my head up and down while my pigtails bounce making me giggle a little. I skip to the front door and swing it open. I peak around the corner and look for the boy mummy talked about. I only see a lady, a man, and a older boy. I frown as I still don't see a boy my age. I carefully walk down the steps and go to the garage. I grab a ball from my play bin and walk back out in the driveway. I hear the front door of my house shut and i turn to see mummy sitting down on her chair. It was white and simple. I called it her chair because I've only seen her sit in it. I bounce the ball a couple of times until I hear a voice.
"Can I play too?"
I whip my head around to see a boy. He had rosy cheeks, dark hair laying flat on his head, blue eyes, and about my height. I smile a toothy grin at him and bounce the ball towards him. The ball bounces right pass him and takes him by surprise. He turns and runs after it. I giggle at his goofy run swaying side to side almost waddling. He grabs the ball, which stopped in the grass, and bounced it back towards me. I catch the ball and giggle as he does his funny run back towards me. We bounce the ball back and fourth for a while until he speaks,
"How long have you lived here for?"
I shrug my shoulders as an answer because I honestly didn't know.
"My name's Niall James Horan." He gives a cheeky grin and I smile back.
There was a small silence until he caught the ball and didn't bounce it back.
"You don't talk a lot do you?" He tilts his head to the side and gives me a curious look.
"I guess thats a good thing because my mummy says I talk too much. I don't really get though 'cause I just have a lawt to talk about and-"
"My name is Virginia Laklyn McCann." I interrupt while giggling.
"Veheniya-?"
"Virginia" I correct him.
"Can I call you Vinny? Virginia is a mouthful."
"No. Virginia is my name." I tell him walking closer.
"But Vinny is so much easier to say! Plus it can be my nickname for you!" A wide grin crosses his face and his eyes shine in delight.
"I guess.." I trail off unsure. I watch as my daddy's car drives up the driveway. He gets out of the car and waves at my mummy who was now talking to Niall's mummy. He walks towards me and lifts his hand making me wince and cower back slightly. Instead he gives a smile,
"Hey kiddo who's this?"
"Niall," I answer, "he's my friend."
I wanted daddy to go inside by the time he looked at Niall and nodded at him. Niall just gave him a goofy grin and waved. Daddy then turned on his heal and walked towards the front door.
"Wanna play a game?" I ask Niall while smoothing out my pink and black dress a bit.
"TAG! YOU'RE IT!" He screams and runs away like an actual human being. I give him an
angry look and chase after him.
...
After a while of playing tag we both got tired, and we sat down on his front steps.
"So why'd you move here?" I ask my breath coming in and out quickly while he was doing the same.
"At my last house we got kicked out because I kept karate chopping the poles by the street," he tells me.
My eyes widen and I start laughing really hard while he was doing the same.
From that moment on I knew he would be my best friend.
