Marinette walked down the cold empty streets of Paris looking abnormally saddened, for she was the girl that everyone knew to always be positive. She had just won a particularly difficult battle with an akumatized villain which had caused her to stay out later than usual. She took out her phone and began to listen to the frantic messages from Alya and her parents. The phone screen illuminated the dark street with it's blue-ish glow but faltered when tears from the young girl fell upon it. "I should be happy" Marinette lied to herself. But how could she? The battle had devastating effects on Cat Noir and most likely his Kwami too. All Marinette could think about was Ladybug having to drag his lifeless body to the nearest hospital shouting for help. "Why couldn't I save him? Why weren't my powers enough?"

Tikki poked her head out of the bag hanging from Marinette's right shoulder. The kwami looked up at her distressed master trying not to cry. Thinking she had found some words that would make Marinette feel better, Tikki managed to say, "at least you two didn't lose your miraculous." Marinette turned to face Tikki, smiling through the tears.

"I wish I were a positive as you, Tikki" Marinette, rather forcefully, shoved Tikki back into her purse and continued walking.

She walked on in silence, her footsteps echoing on the damp, cobblestone streets. Marinette reached her destination and pushing open the bakery door, wasn't surprised to see her parents waiting anxiously behind the register. Her mother Sabine, jumped at the bell-like sound of the bakery door opening and rushed over to greet her daughter. "Marinette! Where were you!?"

"I had decided to go for a walk when my phone died." Marinette said wiping her face to cover her dried tears. Sabine looked disappointed in her daughter but lead her upstairs failing to notice Marinette slip a cookie into her purse.

The trap door that lead to her room was particularly hard for Marinette to open due to her tiredness. Once it was successfully opened and she had climbed inside, Marinette noticed it looked less inviting than it normally did. She flipped on the lights and began getting ready for bed.

Marinette slid into her pink pajamas and undid her hair from It's usual ponytail's. Even though she was too tired to move another inch, Marinette managed to climb the stairs leading to her bed with Tikki hovering close behind. "I'm not going to school tomorrow Tikki." It was the first sentenced the two had exchanged in over an hour and Tikki had almost dropped her cookie in shock.

"But Marinette, you have a test tomorrow!"

"I know Tikki, but I need to see him." Tikki understood there was no changing Marinette's mind and turned out the light completing the hard day for both of them.

The following morning Marinette awoke to her phones alarm at 7:00 am. She told the red kwami to wait for her and faking a sickly outlook Marinette slumped into the kitchen. The young girl complained to her mother who told her to go strait back to bed and locking the trap door behind her, Marinette was finally able to see Cat.

"Tikki, transform me!" A blinding flash of pink light shown through Marinette's open window, and no less than a second later did the famous super heroine Ladybug go flying through the open window and out of sight.

Ladybug, a mere red blur to the pedestrian's of Paris, went flying from building to building at top speed. Anyone who noticed anything could see she was in a hurry. This was the case for the young student Alya. Alya had noticed the odd behavior from her favorite superhero and began to chase after her, thinking of course that there was another akuma attack.

The two girls raced anxiously to the hospital both hoping to see their favorite superhero in action once again.

Ladybug landed in front of the vanilla building and raced inside to see her partner, whereas Alya, who had jumped in a cab to keep up with the the spotted hero, started recording.

"Here we are followers! I don't know why Ladybug went into a hospital, but we're about to find out!"

The glass doors parted as as Alya entered the building. Inside were people huddled in groups and sitting in chairs, each looking more sickly than the last. But what got Alya's attention were the two people standing closest to the receptionist.

A young girl in a bright red suit and a doctor seemed to be having a very intense conversation. So much so that it looked like the confident and safistacated Ladybug was crying.

Alya, wanting to get a better look, inched forward and sought cover behind a chair a few feet from her targets.

"What do you mean I can't see him!?" An angry Ladybug shouted. "He's my partner!"

"Ladybug please, you must understand, we had to operate to keep him alive and that required removing his suit. His ring is currently on his bedside table."

"B..but he..he's...mm...my..partner!" A sobbing Ladybug managed to say. Everyone in the lobby was eavesdropping now, all wanting to know what happened to Cat Noir.

"Please doctor!" Nobody would have ever expected to see Ladybug, the calm, collected superhero completely break down in front of them. "I..I just need to know that he's okay."

The doctor looked down at the troubled girl with sympathy. "Ladybug, you saved my daughter's life. I will do anything and everything to make sure that your partner is well again. But for now, he is doing perfectly well and just needs rest." Ladybug nodded and muttered an inaudible "thank you" and walked out of the lobby ignoring the stares. Alya, sensing a scoop chased after her.

"Ladybug! Can I have a quick interview for the Ladyblog?" The scarlet superhero turned to face her devoted follower.

"Not now Alya, can't you see I'm not in the mood." Her crystal blue eyes looked bloodshot and sad which made Alya feel bad for her. The blogger stopped recording and slipped her phone into the gray bag hanging from her shoulder. When she looked up again the superhero was smiling.

"Thank you"

"No problem. Would you like to talk about it?" Ladybug wished she could just collapse onto her best friend and tell her everything but she got a reminding beep from her earnings as another spot disappeared. "I'm truly sorry Alya."

"It's okay." Unfortunately Alya wasn't quite sure if her idol heard her for she latched her yoyo onto the chimney of a nearby building and took off.
