Dragon Princess

Chapter 1

It was a quiet summer day in the Kingdom of Fiore, the sun high in the clouds, the wind blowing through the trees. Except for one town, Magnolia, which is home to the Wizard Guild, Fairy Tail.

"Oi, Lucy.." Natsu called out to the blonde Celestial Wizard before she could open the double doors of the guild to leave. She glanced to her salmon haired color friend. "Wanna go on a... d-date with me tonight?" He started out strong, only to mumble the last part. Lucy gave a slight distraught look, 'I have plans on going with Gray.. but I don't want to hurt Natsu's feelings..then again... I don't know when or if Gray is really going to come..' she thought to herself only to reply with a simple "Sorry Natsu, but I have plans."

Natsu gives a saddened , almost hurtful look, only for it to quickly vanish as he gives his carefree smile "Alright, maybe next time then" he spoke as he waved to Lucy as she left, heading to her apartment.

As the hours passed, Lucy found herself pacing around her room, thinking of what happened at the guild, only to be interrupted by a knock at her door. Lucy opens the door to see Gray fidgeting with something behind his back. "Gray, what are you doing here?" She asked only for his fidgeting to worsen.

"Am I not allowed to come see you?" the ice make boy asked, trying to keep his cool. Lucy's cheeks turn a light hue of pink as she stumbles for words, "N-no it's not that... I just wasn't.. I-I didn't know you were going to come o-over." She stutters. Gray scratches the back of his head with his free hand as I refuses to make eye contact "well.. I w-wanted to see you..." was his reply, his cheeks became a soft pink.

"A-Anyway, I got you something" Gray said as he showed her a heart made out of his ice make magic. "It's beautiful! Thank you Gray!" Lucy gasped as she looked at it, her eyes sparkling. "Good, now come with me" Gray says as he holds a hand out to her. Lucy takes Gray's hand as he leads away from the apartment.

As they walked, hand in hand Lucy couldn't help but feel butterflies, her face burning. Gray stops under a beautiful cherry blossom tree, the flowers swaying in the wind. Every now and then a blossom would fall gracefully to the luscious green grass surrounding the trunk. The two wizards look up at the seen, the sun setting in the distance.

Gray places himself so he sits against the base of the tree, he gestures to Lucy to sit next to him. Once Lucy is situated they look over the lake as the colors of the setting sun reflects off it. At some point while the sun was going down Lucy placed her head against Gray's shoulder. Gray gave the slightest smile as he rests his head against Lucy's.

Everything was perfect, nothing went wrong, nothing could go wrong. The night was perfect for the moon illuminated the sky, the lake reflected the stars above as the moon shined amongst them. Gray looked down to Lucy, her eyes are closed and her breathing has slowed for she was in a peaceful slumber.

Gray scoops Lucy into his arms with ease, her head resting against the crook of his neck as he carries her bridal style back to her apartment. As door opens, creaking ever so slightly as Gray makes his way through Lucy's apartment to her room. Placing her on her bed carefully not trying to wake her sleeping form.

Gray turns, readying himself to leave, pauses to a light grip on his hand. "Don't leave.." Lucy mumbles in her sleep. Gray abides her wish as he lays next to the sleeping blonde. She moves closer to Gray unconsciously, snuggle up against him. Gray wraps his arms around her from as he closes his eyes, awaiting to see what his consciousness dreams of tonight.
