Waking Up.

Literally just published the first chapter to Why Do These Things Happen?  but I got inspired by this Ambrollins video. It's like..the only one that could make me so close to tears. I'm not a very emotional person. But seriously, it's sad. And long. So if you're emotional, you might cry. Be prepared for tears!

Seth felt as if the breath had been knocked out of him. The words replayed in his mind in a quick haze. Dean, crash, coma, death, coma, coma, coma. He shook his head. Ever since that terrible crash, Dean had been in the hospital. He had too, because he was driving, but the bastard hit him on Dean's side.

He felt sick while listening to the doctor tell him of his injuries. Very severe head trauma, possibilities of amnesia were a good 74%. He'd suffered immense damage to his organs. A piece of shrapnel punctured his right lung and his right arm and leg were shattered. It looked like his wrestling days would be over for a very long time.

If not for forever... Seth thought bitterly.

"How..." Seth stood by Dean's bedside, holding his hand. He was sleeping as peaceful as he could. The Lunatic Fringe wore an oxygen mask and his heart rate was fairly fast. The sight of all the bandages and tainted skin brought tears to Seth's eyes. He looks over at the doctor, finding his voice again. "How is he?"

The doctor sighs. "Not very good, son..As I've told you before he's suffered immense damage to organs and head. He has two broken limbs and we've discovered he's got internal bleeding as well...We are very concerned. As I have also discussed with you, there is a high chance of amnesia...Or a coma. Should he remain asleep more than twenty-four hours then he will officially be comatose.

"We ask that you tell us if he wakes up at all when you are the only one present, please alert us." Seth nods instantly. "Yes, doctor.."  The man nods silently and pats him on the shoulder, then leaves.

Seth sits down next to Dean, brushing the hair from his face with a fond smile. "You never did care all that much for your hair, did you?.."

Let's just say that Seth did not expect a hoarse voice to answer. "N..No, not really."

The Architect jumped, eyes wide. He looked down and felt a rush of relief as he saw those gorgeous blue eyes he fell in love with staring up at him. "Oh god, Dean!" He leaned over and gently hugged him. Dean's weak chuckle could be heard. He had pulled down the oxygen mask. "Hey, Sethie...I'm glad to see you too, baby, but I'm really sore and breathing sucks so you could let go, yeah?"

Seth pulled away instantly. "Sorry.." He looked so relieved.

"Baby.."

Seth tensed and frowned. "Yeah, Dean? Are you okay? Is something wrong? I'll go get a doctor--" As he moved to get up, Dean's grip on his hand tightened. "Sh. I'm fine...But your leg...And your head. Are you okay?"

Seth relaxed and looked down at his leg which was in a cast. His crutch was nearby. "Yeah, honey I'm fine. I'm just worried about you." Dean managed a grin. "Like I said, I'm fine. You're such a worry wart." This caused Seth to roll his eyes. "Well sorry I care about your wellbeing." He pouted.

"Just shut up and kiss me, yeah?"

Seth obliged happily, leaning down and pressing his lips on Dean's in a gentle kiss. The Lunatic Fringe hummed and kissed him back to the best of his ability and smiled. "Missed those..You were in my dreams."

This made Seth's heart flutter. "You're so sweet, Dean." He chuckled when his response was a huff and a "I am not."

"Whatever you say, babe."

Dean closes his eyes, coughing. He was taken aback by the pain that seared through his chest and entire body when he did this. It left him gasping when it subsided. Seth stared at his boyfriend worriedly. "M...Maybe I should get a doctor.." He was moving towards the door.

"No. No it's...It's fine...Really, Seth, I'm okay." He was breathing really heavily. Seth put his mask back on him, much to his dismay. Dean glared up at him.

"Don't look at me like that, babe, you need it so stop."

Dean, seeing how visibly upset Seth was getting, nodded slowly and focused on breathing. There was a soft knock on the door. Seth opened it. Roman stepped inside with a bag. "Brought you some candy if you're able to eat it." Dean grinned through his mask and tried to wave.

Seth smiled and embraced his Shield brother. "Hey, Roman..So good to see you." Roman chuckled. "Good to see you too, brother. How's the Lunatic?" He walked over and sat down. "He's doing as well as he can be.." He sighed. Dean huffed. Roman nods, frowning, then looks at Seth. "And how are you? You don't look much better." The Kingslayer sighed. "I've honestly definitely seen better days, Ro. I feel like someone stabbed my stomach." Both the Samoan and the Lunatic Fringe frowned.

"...But I'm fine. Promise."

"Mhm..." Roman slightly nodded. "Well, I'm glad I could come and say hi. I don't have very much time, sadly..Galina is still out of town and I'm not sure how long Renee is going to be able to handle not seeing Dean. I had her watch JoJo for a bit. She's gonna come up soon." Dean looked happy to see Renee. She was his best friend.

Roman and Seth talked with each other, while Dean closed his eyes again, tired. Pretty soon, Roman left and Renee came. She fussed over Seth, who continually insisted that he was fine. She then focused on Dean. He opened his eyes and managed a small smile.

Seth hobbled over and kissed his head. "I'll be back, okay, babe? I'm just going to stand outside for a bit. Maybe speak with a doc about my leg.."

Dean nods, worry evident in his blue gaze. But he listens to Renee talk about what her and Joelle got to do while Roman came up.

Seth walked out.

Days passed and Seth visited Dean everyday and spent all the time he could with him. He had fallen in the hallway and not only hit his head, but hurt his leg further. And it turned out he had an ulcer as well. So Seth's health had lowered moderately. Dean himself wanted to believe that he was getting better, but it was so hard to keep his eyes open sometimes...And it just..It just hurt. But he had to be strong for Seth.

His baby had really bad anxiety. And he didn't want to lose anyone else.  Dean knew this. And he also knew that ever since that scare when Dean passed out and his blood pressure and heart rate skyrocketed, Seth had nightmares of him leaving. Of him dying. He could see in the darkness of Seth's eyes that he was scared for him. And it tore him apart to see him like that.

Seth was supposed to be here any time now. Perhaps it was taking him a bit longer because of his leg. And Dean didn't blame him.

He was getting tired again, damn it. And he knew that if he was asleep, Seth would panic. Because he promised him he'd be awake when he got there. Panic started to settle in his stomach though, whenever he felt himself slipping away and he struggled to fight it back. Those small sparks of pain were slowly intensifying. He could barely hear the sound of the heart monitor over the beating of his own heart.

He struggled for as long as he could. But exhaustion slowly took over him, forcing him into the embrace of sleep.

And that's when Seth walked in.
