If Craig Thompson wasn't disgusted by the beach before, he sure was now.

After not only being forced to move with his family to the shitty beach town, he was forced to make friends. Oh, and not his choice of friends. Whoever his family chose.

So, within the first week of Craig being in the tiny blue house that he despised already, an Asian kid and his mother was already there for dinner.

The kid couldn't be much older than Craig – maybe two years at most – and he had the dorkiest glasses on...

Yet Craig wouldn't deny he was adorable.

And there they were. Five people around the circular table, two pizza boxes in the middle. All three parents were talking, Craig and the kid not even glancing at each other.

"Craig was horrified at the thought of coming here. Kept saying that Los Santos was his home and that no where else would compare," Craig's father said in a cold voice.

"Evan grew up here – he'd be the same if we went anywhere else. Not that we have the money."

The kid glanced up at his name. He seemed to get a bit sadder once his mother had said that.

Craig's head snapped up as his father spoke.

"Hey, Craig, how about Evan shows you around the place? You could get to know your way around an' you could get to know Evan."

Without even waiting for an answer, Evan stood and sped his way to the door. He didn't wait for Craig before heading outside.

Craig slid a slice of pizza out of one of the boxes before rushing after Evan.

The small house where Craig and his parents lived was close to the ocean, and Craig hated it.

Each morning, Craig would have to wake up to the smell of the sea.

Each morning, Craig would wake up to the waves gently crashing.

Each morning, Craig would wake up with a cold spot in his bed where no animal or person was.

Back to the current setting, where Evan is shouting at Craig to hurry.

Craig took his time as he ate the tiny slice of pizza, strolling straight up to Evan.

"Where are we goin', Sir Evan?"

"Everywhere we can. Which includes multiple different buildings and the corresponding roof."

"... come again?"

Evan let out an overexaggerated sigh.

"The stars are really pretty at night and you can see them best from the beach an' stuff. Plus it smells really nice. Like... like flowers."

Craig raised a skeptical eyebrow at this. "Are you sure? It seems a bit odd. Besides, I'm not getting up onto a roof. No way."

Evan shrugged his shoulders. He began to walk, his feet leaving prints in the sand that reminded Craig that, yes, Evan was real and Evan was talking to him.

"I'll get you up there, then. They're flat for most places, like my apartment complex and a coffee shop."

Craig still didn't seem to fully agree. "What if we fell? We could break our necks, Evan."

"Who cares? We're probably gonna die in this horrible place, anyway. Might as well die from something epic."

"Or idiotic."

"Mostly epic, Craig."
