It was a pleasant mid October morning when Mariam woke up. The soft rays of the sun peeked through the slightly parted heavy, black curtains and landed on Mariam's beautiful face.
The weather was cool in Toronto as compared to the warm one in Mumbai during Octoberber and Mariam liked it. She had always liked cool places and winter was her favorite season.
Mariam released a satisfied sigh and turned to her left on the nice, warm bed, her eyes landing on the handsome face of her husband. Zeyad looked so peaceful while he was asleep, nothing like the always in charge business man who had to deal with the outside world.
Mariam couldn't help but admire his mature features. His slightly cooked nose, bushy eyebrows, and lips. God those lips, Mariam thought.
The way they had felt on her lips and body was amazing. She could still feel his body pressed over hers from last night. The way he had kissed every inch of her body as he made love to her had her turning pink.
Zeyad stirred in his sleep, pulling her out of her daze and Mariam couldn't help but smile fondly at her husband.
Husband.
Mariam will never get tired of using that word.
She leaned closer to his face a placed a soft kiss to his cheeks before getting out of the bed.
The clock next to her, on the bedside table read 7:20 a.m. Mariam got out of their bed and reached for her silk robe draped over a chair, putting it on. She then reached the walk in closet that had both, her and Zeyad's clothes on each side.
Mariam pulled out some soft leggings and a long, oversized sweater along with her under garments. She then went into the huge bathroom attached to their bedroom. It had a glass shower stall and a nice bathtub that could fit in at least three people.
After a quick shower, she got out and went straight to the dressing table, where she put her jewellery back on from where she kept it last night.
Mariam then went downstairs to get started on the breakfast. She couldn't keep her excitement at bay as she entered the big, fully equipped modular kitchen. It was her heaven. She had always thought that her mother's kitchen was the best, but boy was she wrong.
"Good morning, Mrs. Ali," Lucy, Zeyad's house helper greeted Mariam, a soft smile on her slightly aged face.
"Good morning, Lucy. And please, call me Mariam, you're elder to me. I already feel weird calling you by your name," Mariam said as she reached for a glass of juice already set on the breakfast table.
"Oh, dear, you're too sweet. Now, what would like me to make for breakfast?"
"The usual for Zeyad, and I think I am going to make myself a paratha. I am craving one so bad." Mariam said reaching for the flour in the cabinet to kneed the dough.
"I would offer to make it for you, if only I knew how to make one," Lucy laughed.
"It's no big deal. I used to make them every once in a while back in India. I am going to make some for you too.
You and I are going to have some nice Indian breakfast,"Mariam patted the dough after it was done and put some tea on the stove for herself and Lucy, as the later scrambled some eggs and put coffee to brew.
"I am going to wake Zeyad up and then I'll come make the parathas" Mariam said as she walked towards the stairs.
As soon as she reached the bedroom, Mariam pulled the curtains apart and the bright lights pierced Zeyad's face making him groan, "What time is it?"
