"And when I'm almost out the door and running towards my car, thinking it couldn't get any more worse than this, Faaris unleashes his dog at me."

Sameera chokes up a giggle.

"His dog, woman. His nasty, out-for-blood-and-gore dog!"

"Was it a German Shepherd? 'Cuz I've heard they can be pretty scary."

"You're not paying attention!" Javaid protests, licking his lower lip. "The stupid mutt could've fractured my skull, or something!"

Sameera feigns a horrified gasp. "Or could've blown an aneurysm, or cause a massive hematoma, or even a brain hemorrhage! Oh, of all the possibilities, a fracture could be thought of as a pretty minor injury, Mr. Jones!"

"That's not my last name-"

"Although, I think you might have something else going on over here," she continues loudly. "A rare disease, with no mention-able cure, that, with your immense support and your extraordinary brain, could change the face of medicine forever! What do you say?"

A pause follows.

A pensive one, perhaps.

In which Javaid glares at his sneakers, which are now, unfortunately, ruined.

Son of a two-faced, half troll..

Whatever.

He hated them anyway.

Sameera passes a crude look toward her idiotic friend.

She knows she hit home.

"You don't have to rub it in," she hears him mutter, shifting irritably in his posture.

He winces as pain shoots up his arm.

"Oh, give it a rest, you big baby," she spits, rummaging through her bag. "It's not like you died on the spot. At least you got away."

His head snaps up abruptly. "That's not the poin-OW!"

His ears immerse in a deafening roar as his neck cracks hoarsely.

His vision swims.

"Crap," he mumbles, gripping the bed fence.

Sameera tsks and hurriedly slips a pillow. "I told you not to move until the nurse came back! You're such a brat! Now lie down!"

He fumes. "You started it!"

She exhales exasperatedly. "For the love of-"

The door bangs open.

The noise concedes it's defeat.

For now.

"Supplies," an annoyed voice speaks out of thin air.

Javaid squints his eyes. "Dude, you're not the nurse."

Sameera looks up. "Khawar?" she furrows her eyebrows. "Wait, what're you doing here?"

"What do you think?" he emphasizes angrily, disdain laden across his face. He arrogantly dangles the medical supplies for proof of evidence should they convict him for being 'irresponsible', [ because Allah knew he could not take another stupid remark thrown his way ] before a haughty drop concludes his performance.

A rather superficial one, some would think.

"Er...thanks," Sameera says, unsure of a proper response.
