Aloy sneaks through the bushes, hearing Rost's voice but ignoring him. She looks over a bush and sees the Nora chidren and a Nora Mother. She watches as the children pick blueberries. A little boy gets up and walks to the Nora Mother, tapping her on the leg. She turns around and sees him. She lower the basket and he lets his berries drop one by one into the basket.
Nora Mother: Ooh! That's a lot of berries! You're quite the gatherer, aren't you, little Bast. Now go and see if you can find some more.
Aloy longs to have a mother while watching the interaction. The boy wanders off to do what the mother said. She gathers some berries nearby and holds them firmly in her hand. Aloy stands up and walks toward the Nora Mother, feeling the other children's eyes burn into her. She taps the Nora Mother on the leg and again the mother turns. She sees Aloy, disgusted and takes a step back. She gathers the children, calling them to her. She then leads them away to gather berries from another spot.
Nora Mother: She's an outcast, to be shunned.
The boy who had given her his berries, was a bit slow to walk towards her and was staring at Aloy the whole time. The mother saw it and took his arm, leading him away.
Nora Mother: Oh, come on.
Aloy feels down, angry and furious. Why? Why was she an outcast! Crushing the berries in her hand, she starts to run. She can't think properly, she just runs. Angry thoughts swirling in her head. She feels the ground end under her feet and rolls down the ditch. She bumped her head on a rock here, twisting her hand there. She heard a splash and fell into the cold embrace of the water. Swimming to the surface, she resurfaced and saw to a bank. She stood up and took in her surroundings. She realised she was in a cave.
Aloy: Rost! Down here, Rost! ROST! He won't hear me... Some kind of cave? Ew, there are rats down here.
She makes her way through the cave, trying to find a way out. Deeper in she goes and all of a sudden bats fly out of nowhere, flapping like crazy. She feels some wings on her face and then they are gone. Opening her eyes again, she walks further. She sees a tight gap.
Aloy: Looks tight, but I can get through.
She crouches and walks under, looking at a mossy filled room.
Aloy: This must be a ruin of the Metal World! One of the Old places...
She walks down some stairs nearby and carries on. Doubts swirl in her head.
Aloy: Rost said never go in places like this... but I have to find a way out.
She walked on, seeing stairs, she walked up them. Again, bats came out, catching her by suprise.
Aloy: Ahh!
She keeps going now, more carefully.
Aloy: There's something up ahead.
Seeing a door, she hurries to it, only slowing when she was about 10 metres from it. Slowly she went through and looked around.
Aloy: Whats that?
She looked at a slumped object on the floor.
Aloy: A dead person!
Something shiny was emitting from the ear of the person.
Aloy: There's something shiny there.
She walked up to the dead person and took the device off what used to be the ear.
She studies the device and turns it between her fingers. She slowly lifts it up to her ear. It connects with her ear and she suddenly sees light from all around. With a screetch, she drops it, moving away. She sits there for a moment, regaining her senses. She gets onto her knees and crawls forward, picking the device up again. Slowly, she reconnects the device to her ear. Lights become visible around her and certain objects become a bright pink or purple.
