Once again, the buzzing sound of my alarm awoke me from my dream that I couldn't remember anymore. I hate that I always remember the bad dreams but never the good ones.
Getting ready for school, I hear my phone buzz again reminding me the sound of my alarm, making me cringe. I quickly open my new text message.
-Goooddd morningggggg- Luke
I answer him surprised he texted me in the first place.
-Good morning see you at school:)- Rose
-You don't wanna skip with me :(?- Luke
-We skipped yesterday Luke!! I need to go to class!- Rose
-Okay another time yeah?- Luke
-Maybe;)- Rose
I head downstairs to get some breakfast and head out the door with Emily. Walking to school, we see that famous black car pull beside us.
"Hey girls need a lift?"
Emily and I replied at the same time. "We can walk" and "Sure"
"So you are a thing now?" Emily asked me aggravated that I accepted Luke's offer.
"No, we are just friends and it's a kind thing to ask for a lift." I say trying to calm her down from her annoyed tone.
"Well you can go but I'm walking."
"Sorry" I mouthed to Luke feeling a little bad, then following Emily to talk about just has happened.
Once we got to school, I went to my P.E class, which was okay, then English and now art. Heading upstairs, I see Ashton a few steps ahead, so I speed up my pace to catch up to him. While we walk to class we make small talk and then get ready for class. The instructions for today were just to continue our sculpting project. When I look over to Luke, he still has that same face he did last Art class. His eyes dark, staring right at us. I decide to ignore it and continue working with Ashton.
After class, I walked out into the hallway and the only person standing there was Luke. As soon as we made eye contact, he walked over to me, pinning me against the locker. His face was so close to mine, we weren't even an inch away, he then crashed his lips onto mine without any permission. He brushed his lip over my bottom one and bit it gently, I found myself kissing him back. The kiss was rough but gentle, it was indescribable. I felt electricity run through my whole body and butterflies at the pit of my stomach. He started pushing his hips against mine and lifted me up by my thighs and wrapped them around his torso. I pulled slightly at his hair earning a soft moan from him. We both heard footsteps coming from the end of the hallway, but we didn't care, we both had each other at the moment and that was the only thing that mattered. I wanted this moment to last as long as it could and I wouldn't let anyone or anything disturb it.
"Rose? Rose?" I heard lifting my head from my desk, immediately opening my eyes to see Ashtons face inches away from mine. That was all a dream, I can't believe it, it seemed so real.
"Yeah sorry what were you saying?" I asked, embarrassed I had just fallen asleep in the middle of class.
"Nothing much you just fell asleep when I was asking where to get the clay from to start sculpting."
At the end of class, for real now, I headed to the bathroom to splash my face with cold water to clear my thoughts. I couldn't help but think about the dream. It's like if it was haunting me, but it wasn't a bad dream, it was a good one. I'm not sure if I would have wanted that to really happen. I guess I would be scared that things would get awkward between us since we were good friends and I didn't want feelings to ruin what we had built.
I was waiting outside for Emily, to walk back home together, but she never showed. Luke passed by moments later offering a lift, which I accepted since Emily was nowhere to be found.
As soon as i got home, I noticed Emily was making supper and talking on the phone at the same time. She avoided eye contact with me when I waved a quick hello. I walked over to the kitchen offering to help when she just rolled her eyes at me and walked away. What's going on with her? As soon as she got off the phone, I asked her if she was okay and she just ignored me.
"What's going on Emily? You've been distant these passed days and now you are totally ignoring me."
"Nothing." She shrugged walking towards the oven to put steaks on the stove top she turned the heat on and walked away.
"Emily, you are ignoring me, rolling your eyes at me and avoiding me and you're saying nothing is going on? You've got to be kidding me?" I ask her annoyed that she wont answer me and inform me why she is pissed off. I don't recall doing anything so I am kind of confused why she is mad.
"Aren't I supposed to be your best friend?" She asks confusing me once more with her odd question.
"Of course Em what are you talking about?"
"Luke is what Rose! I've been totally replaced! You found your new buddy and now I'm just a piece of garbage no one cares about! I thought we were best friends Rose! But I guess I didn't get the memo early enough to inform me that you had someone new." My jaw dropped to floor. She was mad because i've been hanging out with Luke? Before I could answer, we both turned around at the same time noticing the smell of burnt food. We both started yelling as we saw the two steaks on fire. While Emily turned off the heat and I took a bucket of water pouring it onto the stove, the fire simmered down and the fire finally stopped but the smell of burnt remained in the room, but as well in my stomach when I reminded myself that my best friend was terribly mad at me. The smoke detector started beeping very loudly, to the result of both of us standing on chairs waving cloths in the air to clear the smoke.
After the smoke vanished and the detecotor muted, she ran up to her room, slamming the door shut. I didn't bother going after her, I knew I needed to let her alone for her to clear her head, and time to think. I didn't eat, but our fight took away my apetite. I went to my room and called it a night.
