The next morning, Lucy woke to darkness; the pounding in her head verified that she was in fact, awake. Looking around the room, she saw that her curtains had been shut, no light passed into the room at all. No doubt the handiwork of Natsu…

Lucy’s head swam as memories of the night before pooled in her mind. She rubbed her head, trying to stop both the memories and the pounding. Her efforts didn’t change anything. She threw her hand back on the bed in exasperation, instead of the soft feeling of her bed; her hand came into contact with paper.

Turning her head, she realized that the paper was a note. Picking it up, she slowly unfolded it. It read;

“Lucy, I’m sorry for last night. Do you think we could talk about it? – N”

She rolled her eyes, and threw the note to the ground. Why couldn’t he understand that she needed time? Seriously, as if last night weren’t proof enough. Lucy sluggishly got to her feet, pain shot through her head, causing her to sit back down. Massaging her temples, she tried not to think of Natsu, but to no avail.

She knew that she’d have to face him eventually, he was her boyfriend after all…but what in the hell was she supposed to say to him?! Especially after last night! How was she supposed to explain that? Or how in the world she had ended up with Laxus?!

Ugh.

It was all too much to worry about with a hangover. Instead, Lucy decided to focus on simpler tasks. A glass of water, for instance. That was simple, and it would make her feel better. Rising to her feet, Lucy slowly trudged to the kitchen. Drawing a glass, and turning on the faucet, she easily drained two glasses. The water was cool and crisp, it did make her feel better, but it couldn’t keep her thoughts at bay.

‘He’s too much of a child for a relationship,’ Laxus’s voice echoed in her ears. Lucy balled her fists, he was wrong. Natsu had always been there for her. From the start! She had dreamed of becoming a Fairy Tail wizard for years before she had met Natsu in that small town. It had to be fate! Joining Fairy Tail…or him?

If Natsu were a child, why did he save her? Countless times! Still, Erza had saved her, Gray too, and even Happy so to speak. Thinking about it now, hadn’t Laxus saved her last—Lucy doubled over, spilling her guts into the sink.

Gross.

Wiping her mouth, she poured herself another glass of water. She smiled, maybe it was a sign from the world that she should stop thinking and start doing. Draining another glass, and brushing aside her golden locks, she decided it was time to face the world.

Just not Natsu, not yet.

Laxus woke with a start. Electricity surged throughout his body. Taking in his surroundings; he sunk back into his chair. He pinched the bridge of his nose; it had been nothing more than a dream.

Last night though, he wished that had been a dream. Most of it had been a blur to him, but the one thing he did remember was almost telling Blondie about what had happened between him and Mira. What the hell was he thinking?! Obviously he wasn’t.

He had wanted to make Blondie mad last night; it was just too good of an opportunity not to pass up, and he had actually found strange amusement in it. Blondie had gotten so damn defensive, and even tried to use Mira to hurt him. The strange part? It worked. After that, he couldn’t hold back his temper, hurting her with Natsu was easy, and it felt great. Finally, someone could feel the pain that he was feeling inside.

He enjoyed it, but not for long, for when she began to cry, as much as he hated to admit it…he felt bad. So bad, that he took her home after she had blacked out. The one thing he couldn’t figure out was if he did it out of guilt or responsibility…or both.
