There he stood, vigil against the darkness
An incessant darkness.
Brimming with the desire to shatter,
Unravel.
Consume.
For seconds
Minutes
Hours
Months
He held the lines.
The barriers to keep it all out, resting on his adamant shoulders
But like every other thing in this universe
He faded and the barriers crumbled to ash.
The lines blurred
And then everything slurred
The darkness came
Vicious, silent, overwhelming
It took over
First the loosely held web,
My soul,
It decided to unravel
My mind it chose to devour
My body ravaged
Pain like never before
But a numbness soon took over
A relief against that malevolent agony
A dampner on the cacaphony of regret
And an eternal sleep approachedd
A peaceful homecoming
A sad lullaby to lull me into
That abyss of nothingness where nothing would harm
Hurt.
Destroy.
Create.
Finally.
Peace.
