20 years pass like a minute. She was just a year younger, but we were at such different levels of maturity. Of course, I was the child, she was the adult. Life was hard for me, she was still there, just like in our teen years. She never failed to make me smile, but once, she made me cry tears of joy, and that brings us here, to my hometown. The doorbell rang, I had just moved in, and hadn't given anyone my address yet. Maybe it was the neighbors. I sat up off of the floor, pushing a box aside. Just graduating from college, with a one year scholarship in (football?). I had just become an adult, I put on my smile, and opened the door.
"HEYA MARSHMALLOW!" I rubbed my eyes, was I seeing things? "S-strawberry?" My eyes started tearing up, my love was standing in front of me. "I brought you cookies." Her smile was as bright as I thought it would be. I pushed past the tray of cookies she had put in front of me and hugged her tightly.
Her eyes widened, you could tell she was surprised, then again, so was I. "How'd you it was me, Senpai?" She said the word Senpai with such flow it seemed normal.
"The way you answered, no one would answer like that to a man crying." She chuckled. "Quite a smart one you've become, but you're still the same, I knew you'd always stay my marshmallow." I don't remember a time where I have smiled so much. "Alex?" She asked with a sense of paitence. "Hmm?" She hadn't usually called me by my real name, she must've been serious. "Am I still welcome? And what color are you painting your room? Better not be black, sends off bad vibes, and we don't want you sad, now do we?" My chuckle echoed through the room. "Oh, how I missed your smartass jokes.""I know ya did, so, you gonna invite me in, me and the cookies?" I remembered how cold it was, I was so happy I didn't realize how cold I myself was, let alone how cold she was. "Oh shoot!" As I flustered inside she mumbled "bang." She smiled slightly, as if she knew what I was thinking. My smile grew back. "Wait. How'd you even know where I was?!" She giggled. "You said you wouldn't give me your address so I was on a search, I dinged every doorbell in your neighborhood." I started laughing with her, she stilled remembered. Was it really that important to her?
