Shayna Nikitin's Secret

Summary: Shayna Sophia is a rich 'it-girl' in her home in Russia. She goes to a private school and travels all the time with her brother... until something happens to her. How will her mother react to this? Sending her away with an au pair to a ranch in a small town in Texas, and expects her to go to public school. When she meets cowboy Jed Kayler, she starts feeling... well... liked. They don't know her secret or about her money, but can she trust her new found friend and crush as they show her the country girl inside? Or will she keep it bottled up forever? Trust was not something she was good at anymore...

"Shayna Sophia, don't tell me you aren't going back to Dubravushka next year! Tell me you're going back!" My mother, Keesha Nikitin, told me over the phone of my dorm at Dubravushka.

Dubravushka was a fairly new boarding school in Moscow, that teaches years 1 to 13. I happen to... dislike it here, and I don't want to go back next year. I wish every night, that something will happen where I don't have to go next year. The only thing I like here is that I have one true friend who doesn't like me just because I have money. Because she does, too. And the dance program.

"Um... mom, for now, I'm just going away to Switzerland with Demetria and Damien for winter break." I rolled my almond shaped grey eyes. Demetria, my best friend here, and Damien, my older brother. He was a year older than us. We were in year 12, and he was in year 13 waiting, impatiently, to go to America for college. Actually, he was going to Yale next year.

She sighed. "Well, have fun. When do you leave?"

"Uh," I checked my calendar. "Tomorrow!" I said shocked. "Uh, mom, I have to go. I... um... need to... take a shower! Bye!"

I smashed the phone down on the receiver, and ran to my closet, cursing. How could I forget?

Let me explain. My mom is a control freak. Me... not so much. We have the same looks; long, curly brown hair, perfectly arched brows, huge, sexy smiles, almond eyes, high cheekbones, pale skin that was almost un tanable, and petite bodies, but besides the fact that we're both runners, we have completely different personalities. Which is why I didn't tell her I forgot all about winter break starting tomorrow, and that I never yet packed for our 4 week trip. She would've used our private jet to come here, yell at me for not being pro active, and probably take the whole trip to agree on something that I want to pack.

In the dim light of the night moon (I don't like the light on when I don't really need it), I saw all my school uniforms. I scowled, ugly blazers, plaid skirts, blue blouses, striped thick ties...

I moved them aside, revealing my designer jackets, boots, sweaters, and yoga pants. All my winter gear and accessories were on a shelf above it. I got rid of all my summer stuff. I could just buy new stuff that's in fashion. I lifted up the first pair of boots I saw. Smiling, I saw they were my snakeskin cowboy boots. I was always was a little into the cowgirl style, like skinnies, boots, a cute hat, maybe (if I can find one) a cute jean jacket over a tank. But here, you obviously cant express your style. Actually, the real reason I never really wore them was because... I could never imagine me having to wear plaid in a hot, humid place across the world.

I threw them back in and took out an armful of clothes and dragged them to my bed.

"Hey, S. What are you...?"I heard someone say over the clothes and jingle of keys.

They stopped, and I dropped the stuff on my bed before almost falling on them, and turning to see a dark skinned, black straight haired, blue eyed girl. She was a little taller than me, and was way curvier, not that I was that jealous. That jealous. She held a latte in her right hand, and her keys in the other while her purse dangled from her elbow. She wore the horrid outfit, but made it look good. Like a dark skinned version of Fiona from Degrassi.
