I walk back to Jason and Joel's house. I can't believe he did this. On our anniversary, nonetheless. What did I do wrong. Had I accidentally triggered something to make him look at me that way? Was he looking for a way to get rid of me for a while and this was his chance?

I walk into the house and go to the guest room in which I was staying. I collapse on to the bed and my tears start flowing automatically.

"I will call a lawyer tomorrow. We will want to get this done quickly and I know someone who is good with that.", a voice suggests carefully.

I jump up frightened until I see who it is. Jason is there leaning against the doorframe. His arms are crossed in front of his dark brown button down shirt that fits his not too skinny but not too bulky form and that is the exact shade of his eyes that look like chocolate. His honey blonde hair that is usually nearly reaching his eyes is now sleaked back. He and Joel must be going out tonight.

"Why would we do that? We are not sueing him are we?", I question while giving him a puzzled face.

He laughs. "No, you are going to divorce him. Look, he clearly doesn't trust you considering that you are here still. I am not going to let you in a toxic relationship.", he explains sympathetically. He should have been a psychologist not a doctor.

I am rendered speechless. Not by the fact he suggested getting a divorce but by the fact that he is mostly likely right. Malcolm had kicked me out without a second thought, he forgot our one year anniversary, and on top of all that, he has been starting arguments almost everyday for a month and a half now.

I nod my head slowly and look down at my feet. I didn't realize I was standing. He pushes himself off the doorframe and walks over pulling me into a hug. He sets his chin on my head and strokes my hair calmingly.

"It is okay, Valentina. We will try and do this as quickly and trouble free as possible. When me and Joel get home later we will discuss this farther." He gives me one last squeeze before letting go and leaving me to my depressing thoughts.

About a hour after they left, my phone starts going off. I checked the caller ID and it was Malcolm. My heart jumped but I resisted answering it right away. After 10 minutes I couldn't resist anymore. I picked up and said hello.

"Valentina, when are you coming home?" he asked in a tired voice. I don't know why but hearing his voice made my blood boil like I was in the Sahara desert.

"As far as I am concerned, never.", I snapped.

"Come on, Val. It was a stupid misunderstanding."

"A stupid misunderstanding?", those words felt sweet but also sour on my tongue.

"Yes. I made a mistake and I want you to come home so we can talk about why you thought you had to be unfaithful."

"What?! That is not a misunderstanding. The misunderstanding is that you let someone convince you that I slept with my GAY friends. I am sorry if that is not what you meant. I must be to childish to understand this misunderstanding.", I scream through the phone.

I can hear him breathing and I wait for him to say something. Say that he was sorry and wishes for me to come home. But he never did. I sigh in defeat and continue speaking.

"Don't call me again, Malcolm." I finish hanging up before he can say anything that will change my mind.

My stomach growl but the thought of food nauseated me. Collapsing onto the couch I start to think. We lasted a year, only one goddamned year. He promised we would stay together forever and I was a fool to believe him. My mom warned me not to marry him to soon but I didn't listen. This might really be the end of our marriage. The end of us.
