You grew tired of being a pokemon trainer. You had been one for so long and discovered all the pokemon. There was nothing left to do.

Every day you battled gyms you already beat for fun... But you didn't have fun.

One day, while walking home after another boring gym battle you spotted a pokemon you never cared about before. You took out a pokeball, but then it came towards you willingly.

"Slowpoke..." It said softly, making you fawn over how cute it was. It's doppy smile... Its slow movements... Its pink hue... How adorable.

You bent down to its shorter height and looked it up and down. You noticed all of its bruises and cuts, probably from being forced to battle by other pokemon trainers such as yourself.

"Are you... Okay?" You asked it timidly, knowing that pokemon can't speak many words.

Suddenly you were in shock. It spoke. With real words. 😱. "I... Like your socks. They are so nice... And pink... I like you..."

You blushed at the complement and looked down at your socks. You never wore shoes, they were like jail cells built around your feet to suffocate them. You hated shoes. Your socks were dirty... But they brought back painful memories of your younger days.

"Mom! Buy me these socks or else I'll never eat my veges again!" You yelled, shoving a pair of pink polka dotted socks in your mother's face. "PLEASE! I'm begging you!"

"Alright, alright. Don't make a scene. I'll buy them for you, and maybe we'll get ice cream on the way home. Would you like that?" Your mother smiled warmly at you.

"Yes!" You gave her your toothy eight year old grin.

When you got in the car you immediately put your new socks on, ditching the shoes you hated.

You frowned. "Mommy... They're too big."

"That's okay dear. You'll grow into them."

"I can't wait till they fit!" You said happily, your frown turning upside down.

"Ice cream flavor?" Your mommy asks you.

You think for a good, long minute about this. "Hmm... How about strawberry?" You finally decide, all because of your love of the color pink.

Your mother turns her head away from the road for a split second to look for the ice cream coupon. But she never finds it. And neither do you. You were in a terrible car crash, but somehow unharmed. Your mother... She wasn't so lucky.

At the hospital you grabbed her hand, hopeful that she'd open her eyes. "Mommy wake up! You promised! You promised we'd get ice cream together!" You didn't understand fully... But you knew deep down. She wasn't going to ever wake up again.

All that was able to be salvaged from the car wreck was you... Everything else was gone. Except you and your pink polka dotted socks, a final reminder of the events that occured on that fateful day...

"I.. Thank you." You said, shoving the memories to back of your mind.

"Are you sad?" The pink ball of cuteness suddenly asks you, causing you to try to defend yourself.

"No! I'm not sad! Why would I be..." Your words slowly drift off, and you decide to end your lie there.

The Slowpoke suddenly slowly moves forward... And hugs you. You blush at the physical contact, but you give in and wrap your arms tightly around the pokemon.

You release it after a few seconds and awkwardly stand back. "I guess... My socks bring back some bad memories...." You say softly embarrassed at your own behavior. This was a pokemon, not a human being. How could you possibly grow attached so quickly? Even willing to tell him about you past...

"Don't be sad. I like them." Slowpoke says with a doppy smile. "The same way I like you."

Slowpoke suddenly moved extremely close to you. You blushed, worried about what it was about to do.

But instead of doing what you expected... The slowpoke pushed you into your only weakness... A parked car.

You lie on the ground, gasping for air as your life slowly slipped away. "W-Why?" You managed to say, using all of your strength.

The Slowpoke threw away its doppy smile and replaced it with a sinister one. "I hate you and your kind. Always using us to fatally wound our friends without a care in the world for us. You got what you deserved." It turned around and slowly walked away, leaving you to die.

You died.

The End.
