At the end of the day, Gillian was walking down the school halls to her locker. Then she whirled around when she heard Corrie yell "Hey Gill, wait up."
Halfway offends but the nickname she replied "Gill. Really. That's what you're calling me now."
Shrugging, Corrie said "Eh, I was just trying it out." he paused as if to think, "Nope don't like it. You ready for the tryout?"
"Oh gosh yes. I'm so glad it's the end of the day. It felt as if social studies would not end." Gillian said with an eye roll.
"Well I kind of like social studies" Corrie proudly spoke
Sassily Gillian responded "well that makes one of us. So where do you go for the tryouts anyway?"
"Well let me tell you. First, you'll go to the locker room to change and then when you are done go to the stage where the cheer Captain will tell you a little bit and then follow the instructions."
"Sweet, see you there." And with that Gillian was off to fallow Corrie's instruction. When she got to the locker room, she realized why she decided to go with a different class other than PE. Which in her mind stood for Public Embarrassment. And that's not it. For one the locker room had ten stalls, as to which only three of them worked and over half of them without a working door. So to get out of that hell hole as soon as possible, Gillian thew on her clothes and headed straight to the stage where she had a seat until Corrie joined her without saying a word.
Confusing Gillian, she just sat there and wondered why he was sitting so quietly. It was the same way she would sit if she was nervous or happen to like someone and they were sitting right next to her.
After a few awkward seconds, the head captain got on stage. She had brown hair and light brown eyes. She had a kind but stern smile. She was also wearing the school cheer uniform which had the colors light blue, gold, and white on them, a white tiger on the top halfcof the uniform. They were so cute and Gillian couldn't wait to have it on. That is of course if she made the team.
The captain introduced her self once she got onto the stage. "Hello, as you all may know my name is Ruby. Of course, not all of you may know my name" as she nodded to Gillian. " I want to tell you a little about the team and what to expect."
Corrie leaned over to whisper "you ready for this?"
Nervously, Gillian responded, "As ready as I'll ever be."
Corrie spoke to reassure her "you look so nervous. Just chill you will probably be placed in the position as the flyer. You will do fine."
Of course, this did not help Gillian's nerves, this only made them worse.
A few moments later the captain told everyone to go to the gym, for the mats have already been put together and there everyone would get a position.
When they got to the gym, the captain had not lied the school colored mats had been laid down.
"Alrighty. Everyone, please line up from shortest to tallest and guys. We all already know your spots, have fun being bases."
As the girls got into a line from shortest to talked Gillian was afraid that she would end up at the end. Luckily she wasn't. Of course, she was second to last in size.
I'm mean why am I at the end I'm 5 feet 3 inches. That's not that short. She thought to herself.
As if reading her mind, Ruby said "your not that short, it's just that everyone else is taller than you. You can go over there with the other flyers to go to the tumbling portion of the tryout."
Gillian did what Ruby had told her and was off to start the tumbling section. thankfully her old sport had been gymnastics, so she was able to do what they had told her to do.
Her first assignment was running tumbling so for that she did a round off front punch front walkover round off double back handspring step out tuck back handspring layout to a triple full. That seemed to have amazed everyone. Including Corrie, who could do some pretty amazing things.
"Wow, for a new girl you really know your stuff," Corrie said with aw
"Well, I was a Gymnast before I decided to do cheer."
"Oh great, then you will be super tight when flying. I'm so excited to see someone else fly than just the normal small town folk." Interrupted the Captain.
Not sure whether to say thank you or laugh, Gillian went with a smile. After the tumbling section, the group went to learn cheers, which Gillian found easy to learn. Then her section when to the stunting part of the tryout. The part that terrified Gillian, and the quiet girl next to her, the most. At this station were three guys. One was Corrie who was paired up with Vanessa, Matthew or mat was paired up with Jamey. Which left Gillian with Darien. Who was kind of on the heavier side and had acne all over his face. He was balding already and kind of looked like a rat that got a whiteboard dropped on it to flatten its face.
This man was supposed to one man her. It looked like this only thing he ever picks up was a pizza box. Well, the only thing she could do was trust him and stay tight. But she didn't want to trust him she wanted to trust Corrie.
"You ready?" Said Darien said with a rough out of breath voice.
"I guess?" Gillian hesitated.
"Ok on the second count you will dip and on the third count jump as hard as you can and stay tight. Then I'll do the rest. 1. 2."
Gillian dipped and on three jumped as hard as her legs could push. Then the next thing she knows it's count five. "I've done it. Oh my gosh, I've done it." She shouts with enthusiasm."
"Ya go you. Just don't look down." Mathew shouts.
Of course, this causes her to look down and freak out. She was so high in the air. Then the next thing she knows the ground seems to be coming closer. Until the world goes out with a loud bang and then a peaceful darkness covers her.

Beep...beep...beep
"Where am I." Confused Gillian whispers
A Soft familiar voice replies, "you're in the hospital. You had a fall and hit your head. The docs said that you should be fine it was only a slight hit and there was no concussion." That soft voice was the voice of her sister, Chelsey.
Opening her eyes Gillian finds the whole cheer team there with her.
"Thank goodness you're ok. We where worried sick." Ruby says with tears in her eyes. "We have good news for you. You mad the team."
And with that, a smile formed on Gillian's lips, but something didn't seem right, and Gillian couldn't put a finger on it.
