Pic of Corey^^^ Well, at least in my brain, unless you have him pictured another way (that stove in the background though!!!!)
Trinity's POV (Still)
"Mrs. Dunneley, this is Trinity in the guidance office. Can you send me Corey Brock after he finishes his test?" I say into the phone.
"Why, of course, he'll be around in fifteen or twenty minutes." She tells me sweetly, and hangs up the phone.
Good, I can check his file again. Or at least the summed up version they give me.
I really have to do something about his grades, he's pulling, at best, C's and a couple D's. I wish I could do something more for these kids. At least more than what anyone ever did for me.
Knock! Knock!
"Who's there?" I ask
"Corey Brock." the voice replied
"Corey Brock Who?" I inquire
"The student?" the voice questions
"I don't get it, but come in anyway I guess." I sigh
Corey walks in with a smile on his face chuckling under his breath. "Lookin' good today Ms. T."
"Corey, I am a grown woman. I am 23 years old, and I don't date younger guys." I say, shaking my head. "Besides aren't you dating Shana?" I accuse.
"Alas, I could be with you, but my heart belongs to another. If only." He sighs.
"So Corey, I actually called you in here about your grades. You are aware that you have mostly 60's right?" I ask and he nods his head in response "For you to play baseball this spring, you have to have at least all C's. I'm going to ask you to either work harder, or have tutoring for an hour at least three times a week. I want you to start doing your work and participating in class. I'm also going to recommend that I see you once a week to check your grades, and discuss it." I explain.
"But Ms. T, that's not fair I-" he starts.
"No Corey, what's not fair is you being able to make a 90 or better on every test, yet you've failed eighth grade, and almost eleventh. Now, you can either take my advice, or let your coach tell you in three months, that you can't play your last season. It's your choice. Now, call or text when you have made up your mind." I say handing him my card and opening the door. "Alright, you have a good day, and get back to class. I want to see you next Wednesday during your lunch for a chat. And no excuses."
"Okay." he sighs, running a hand through his hair. Yes! I'm actually getting through to him.
"See you Wednesday, and I'll be talking to your teachers Tuesday." I tell him as he walks down the hall.
Sitting back down at my desk, I realize that I cannot handle more cases right now. I thought this was just gonna be about getting through to Corey about his anger, but I've noticed signs of serious stress in all four students I've talked to today.
A/N
Sorry for the short chapters, it gets better.
Who could the fourth person be?
How is S/he connected?
Did s/he tell Trinity about Corey's anger?
Come back Tuesday to find out
