Chapter 1
SOLANA
Running..... running like the heavy wind is caused by me. Then suddenly I stop. There he was. Michael Suborta, who was the most amazing guy in the world, standing about twenty feet away in the alley where we had our first kiss. I start running again and throw arms around him at the point of where I can reach him. He's warm, like always, and smells like fresh fish. Three months ago I would have found the smell disgusting, but now it smells pleasant.
"Well it took you long enough" he said smugly with his wide grin. He is very good looking. His short brown hair jelled into a blade like hairstyle with a broad face structure, gray eyes, full eyebrows and his tan skin. I knew he was kidding. I got here earlier than he told me.
I smile and set my chin where my cheek was on his chest so our eyes meet. Me being tired from the all running I did, said "hey" (gasp) "don't judge" (gasp) "I don't run as fast as you and plus" (gasp) "my apartment is three blocks away from here." We laughed and sat down in silence for a while. When finally taking slower, calmer breathes he aske "so you missed me right? Like, im serious you had to miss me because otherwise it means the relationship might not last much longer. Eric says that when the person you're dating is away for a while but you don't think of them that often, the relationship is dying down and is going to get 'thrown to the curb' as he calls it."
Oh Eric. You'll do anything won't you? I put on a small smile and punch Michael's arm lightly and scold to him "Stop listening to Eric. He's just making you freak out for no reason so I would get aggravated and turn our whole relationship around." I raise my hands high and wide to represent whole. "He's only jealous you know, he doesn't know how to keep a girlfriend."
"Yeah I know" he says in agreement. "but he's a pretty cool guy to be friends with. Me and him have been through so much together- "
" And so have we- "
"But I've known him longer- "
"So?-"
"So?......" We laugh. We laugh at our arguing. We laugh at how ridiculous we are fighting over something that isn't worth it. It's how we get over the problems we have. It keeps us from getting into serious issues with each other. We know couples fight. So we know that when we fight, it's not because we're not supposed to be together.
I kiss him lightly then sit back against the brick wall of an old apartment building and stare at the blank, dark, grayish blue starless sky and soon fell asleep.
