You sat there. Staring out the window. A dark cloud had emerged across the sky, blocking any sort of light. The clouds grumbled, and heavy rain poured. The rain drizzled over the trains window, blurring your view of the outside world.
You rested your head on the window, not bothered that you couldn't see. Not bothered about the thunder storm that had spread over the skies. You just didn't care.
You let the coolness of the glass touch your skin. Music flooded your ears. You let it circulate your mind and body, taking any sort of stress under its wing. But as it played, you didn't listen. You were too busy looking out the window at nothing. Looking out into a blurry scene.
The train was empty. It was late at night, and only a couple of people had boarded, including yourself. You had intended to go to the beach, but now on the train, you didn't care where you went.
As long as it's somewhere other than here, you thought.
Your hometown, seemed so far away. It seemed as if it was on another planet , holding one of its stupid street fairs. The town reminded you of a star.
Even though it was surrounded by other towns, other people. It still looked alone. It still looked hopeless as it watches people come and go. It still looked sad.
All of its buildings slowly decaying into nothing, the paint that peeled of as the harsh sun laid its eyes upon them. Just that feeling you felt as you walked past them.
Actually you couldn't decide what reminded you more of stars. The town or you.
You moved uncomfortably in your seat. You were just glad to get away for a while. It wouldn't be long until you'd have to step foot back into that horrid place, you knew that, but you tried hard to forget.
You stopped staring out the window and looked around to gain your sanity back. You noticed a boy sitting a couple of chairs in front of you.
He was wearing all black. His hood was up, covering his face. He had his hands in his pocket, and his gaze drifted towards the long-gone horizon too.
You couldn't see his face, but you wanted to. There was something about him that drew your attention. He gave off this vibe. You couldn't quite put your finger on it. He was luring.
To your dismay, the train began to slow down, and subconsciously you took out one of your earphones. Your gaze still on the boy, you realised he was getting ready to get off.
He slowly stood up, stretching his back, and began to walk down the aisle. You still wanted to see his face. You still wanted to know more. Suddenly, something fell out of his pocket. He didn't seem to notice, and carried on walking.
You gulped, should I get it?
Making up your mind, you too, rose from your seat. You quickly walked down the aisle, passing empty and abandoned seats. Your reflection in the glass watched you, and you approached what he'd dropped. They were earphones.
You scooped them up in your hand and and ran to the train door. A harsh blow of rain attacked you and you raised your hand to shield your face. The rain soaked your hair, and stuck to your face. But you didn't care.
Where is he?
Your eyes found a figure walking away from you. His hood up.
That must be him.
You began to run towards him. "Hey wait!" You called out. You stopped running, in hope he would turn around. It was getting hard for you to see, the rain was blurring your vision.
And to your delight, he stopped and turned around. His face was still hidden under his hood, and your heart fell a bit.
"You dropped these" You blurted, holding up his earphones. The boy made his way towards you, and you gulped. A small doubt in you increased as he neared. He could be a serial killer-
The boy laughed, as he approached you.
Okay, not a serial killer.
"Oh thank you" He said, and you practically gawped at his voice. It was deep and smooth and left you with your lips slightly parted.
You looked at him and shook your head. That's embarrassing, you thought. His accent was strong too, did that mean he's not around here too?
You found yourself laughing, "that's okay. I suspect you'll need them" You said. Nerves filled your stomach, as he smiled and took the earphones from your hand.
Your clothes were now fully soaked. Everything had stuck to you, showing your figure. You felt the boy's eyes trail down your body and back up to your face, and raised an eyebrow. You felt your cheeks flush and looked away. Back at the train. Your eyes widened.
"Shit" you cursed. The train had left. What do I do now?
You turned around back to the boy, and found him still looking at you. You swallowed, and noted how his eyes ran over your neck. He raised his eyebrow again, and inclined his head toward the train station. "Next one doesn't leave until early tomorrow morning"
You sighed and tucked a piece of hair behind your ear, "I'm in no rush" The less time you spent in there the better.
The boy took a step closer, "no?"
"I guess even hell gets boring after a while, it seems" you looked at the earphones between his hands, "ironic really"
He looked at you with his face now grave, and offered, "do you know where you're going to go?"
A feeling of hopelessness hit you like a brick. No you didn't know where you were going to go. No you were lost. No, you needed to get on a train and go back. The world suddenly became dark and frightening. What were you thinking? How would this ever turn out right? You mess everything up. You closed your eyes, suddenly dizzy.
You felt a pair of hands gently on your shoulder, "hey are you alright?"
The world was so vast, you weren't ever going to get back. You'd be lost forever. You would become no one. No one would remember you. You'd become another lost soul, that no one cared or loved for.
The hands gently shook you, but you gazed over them. You're lost. So far from home. The town wasn't the star. You were the star. Lost and forgotten.
A cry rose from your throat as you threw yourself into those arms that came for you. Warmth seeped into you as you clung on tight. The rain still ran down your face as arms, perhaps unsure what to do, wrapped around you.
A voice lent down and whispered into your ear, "I know somewhere you could go" And snivelling, you looked up at the boy. His eyes full of concern made you step back and you instantly regretted it, missing his warmth.
"You do?" You asked
The boy nodded, "not far from here. I can take you there if you'd like"
You looked around, into the darkness. You wouldn't stand a chance walking around at night. So you looked back towards the boy, and said "If you wouldn't mind.."
A shrug, "it's dangerous out here too, you know. I don't know where you came from, but I'd definitely not let any person, especially a pretty one like yourself, go wandering around at god knows what time at night. I'll take you" and with that begun to walk away.
You hurried to catch up with him, and when you did, he didn't say anything at first. After a few steps of battling the strong thunderstorm that had been unleashed, he said, "I'm Felix"
You casted a side long glance at him, and raised an eyebrow. "I'm y/N"
"Cute name"
You blushed, and bit down on your lip. It was silent for a couple of moments until, "I'm sorry I went all crazy on you earlier. I didn't know what came over me" Embarrassment washed over you and you felt yourself fiddling with your fingers.
Felix looked at you and the back forward.
Another shrug, "I know what it's like to feel like no matter where you run, no matter where you hide, darkness will find you. And it will bring hell with it"
