It was the night before class started back up, and Benedict had invited me over to his place. We hadn't gotten to see each other since the night we shagged because my mother had made me participate in some quality family time. But tonight he was all mine.
After getting dressed, I went downstairs to see my mother sitting at the table with her head in her hands. "When did you get home, mum?" I asked as I walked up to her, putting my hand on her back.
"Just a few minutes ago. Are you going out? Don't forget you have school tomorrow."
"I know, Mum. And yeah, I was planning on going to hang out with friends." I kissed her forehead. "You look tired. You should get some sleep."
"I need to make Zoe dinner, and once I finish cleaning up, I'll want to take a shower. Then I can sleep," she groaned.
"Lucky for you, I already made Zoe dinner. The leftovers are in the fridge if you want any." I smiled as I saw her shoulders relax. "Thank you, Amelia. I really appreciate it."
"No problem, Mum. It was the least I could do for you. Now go shower," I laughed.
She smiled at me and patted my arm as I turned to grab my coat off of the rack. "Have fun, honey. Don't stay out too late."
I nodded and waved goodbye at her before walking out into the cold. I walked a few streets over before arriving at our usual meeting place. Benedict was already there, so I just hopped in the car and we started toward his flat.
"You didn't have to put so much effort into your looks just to come see me. I'm not that special," Benedict chuckled. I glared at him playfully and responded, "Tonight Mum thinks I'm going to hang out with friends. Shut up and just appreciate the effort."
He smiled and rested one of his hands on my knee as he drove. "I hope you know that I do appreciate it. I appreciate everything you do."
I blushed at his comment and grabbed his hand, intertwining our fingers. "I know. You tell me that every time you see me, you hopeless romantic."
"What can I say?" He flashed a grin and held my hand for the rest of the ride

"Amelia, we need to talk," Benedict said seriously as we were on the couch warming up by the fire. We'd kissed for a while and were just cuddling now.
"Can it wait until later? I was thinking we could do other things," I said whilst sliding my hand up under his shirt. He gripped my wrist and gently pulled it back, shaking his head. "No, darling, we need to talk now."
I stopped being cute and sat up, looking at him with a frown. "About what exactly?"
Benedict sighed and said, "Someone knows about us." My eyes immediately grew to be the size of dinner plates. "But you don't need to worry about it... My friend Martin, he's the one who knows. Our secret is safe with him."
"No need to worry, my arse! Why would you tell someone about us?" I raised my voice as I stood up, angry that he exposed us.
"Amelia, I didn't have a choice. I swear. He saw you leaving my flat the other day." Benedict reached out for my hand, but I yanked it away. "But you didn't have to tell him!"
"You don't know Martin. He's persistent. He already started pestering me for answers, and he would've kept going until I told him." Benedict reached for my hand, and this time I allowed him. "Our secret is safe with him."
